Billy Cranston was the original blue ranger. He was chosen along with four other teens to receive a great power which was drawn from the spirits of the dinosaurs. These powers would give them the ability to transform into a fighting force only known as the Power Rangers.
Zordon a wise wizard and the rangers mentor chose Billy for his intelligence, which made him a very useful asset for the team.
Billy drew his powers from the triceratops. His weapon was the power lance. Only when he was morphed would he be known as... The Blue Ranger.
When a cosmic creature named Ivan Ooze is accidently uncovered by construction workers, Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa take full advantage of this opportunity and release him from his hyper lock chamber.
Immediately Ivan goes after Zordon who had imprisoned him six thousand years earlier. While attacking the Command Center he destroys practically everything in site. Causing it to shut down and the powers to be lost... forever.
Yet all was not lost. Alpha 5, Zordons trusted assistant, was able to teleport the rangers to the distant plant Phaedos to retreive the sacred ninjetti powers.
Shortly after there arrival the teens meet Dulcea, master warrior of the planet Phaedos. When she learns of what's happening on earth she leads the rangers to the ruins of the sacred ninjetti temple. There she bestows upon them the power of ninjetti.
Billy's power now came from his animal ninjetti spirit. The wolf. For he was cunning and swift.
