Guybrush Threepwood. Almost every adventure player has heard this name before (anyway, the name has his own, cool history). It stands for one of the most famous, entertaining and popular adventure hero in PC games history. Guybrush is the star of the game Monkey Island: The Secret of Monkey Island and it's sequel.

This is the game's starting scene.
Guybrush Threepwood is a young boy in the Carribean Sea in the time of the great pirates and treasures. His dream is to become one of the most feared and richest pirates of the world. Everything starts when he lands on Melee Island to visit the

three most famous pirate captains, and become a pirate himself. But it's not as easy as he thought. Before becoming a pirate, Guybrush has to solve three quests. He has to steal the idol from the house of the Governor Elaine Marley, has to beat

the sword master and has to find the treasure of Melee Island. After fighting his way through sleepy killer poodles, pirates who can kill with words and big x's on the ground, he finally reaches his goal and becomes a pirate. But new problems

evolve fast. Elaine, his new-found love, is captured by the dreaded ghost pirate LeChuck, who lives in a cave under Monkey Island. Let's shorten this, at the end of the game Guybrush kills LeChuck and saves Elaine. That's the story of Monkey Island 1.

Monkey Island 1 ended with Guybrush and Elaine watching fireworks.

Guybrush is standing beside Scumm Bar(open 24 hrs/day) serving grog to the recently retired pirates. Grog, is the official pirates drink.

You'll find these guys in Monkey Island II.

In Monkey Island 2, which was released in 1992 (one year after the first part), Guybrush is a really rich guy (well, but rich doesn't mean famous, or liked, or respected) with almost no problems at all. But after a little guy named Lagos steals everything he has, and LeChuck seems to have raised from the Dead again, Guybrush again has to beat his old enemy and save the Carribean and stuff. Let's shorten it again (heh-heh), at the end he

DOESN'T kill LeChuck and DOESN'T save Elaine or anything. He and LeChuck are transformed back into small childs. LeChuck is Guybrush's brother and go have fun on a fairground. (Pretty strange ending, eh?)

When you comparing Monkey Island with Monkey Island II, you'll find that Monkey Island is more vivid than the later version. But in term of graphic, Monkey Island is only available in VGA color whereas Monkey Island II is developed in SVGA color.

What do you think Guybrush is going to do? Suicide??!!

Well, this is the end of it. I really hope this do help much in afford to save your memory. For those of you who didn't have your hand on Monkey Island, I do hope you feel the excitement and get a copy of it.
