Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters on Dawson's Creek. If I did I
wouldn't waste my time writing for
free when I could be making actual money off of this.
Author's Note: Okay this story is a short tribute to the late Abby Morgan.
Maybe I'm really nice and naive but I
really like Abby and DC won't be the same with out her. I actually cried when
she died. I hope every one feels the
same way I do. To show your support for Abby send me emails saying whatever you
want about her or my story. This story takes place on the night of Jen's date with Vincent when Dawson finds
Abby in his room. I have changed a few details to fit the story.
Dawson sat at the kitchen table just staring at his food. His fork pushed the
scraps of
food around as he decided whether or not to eat it. He wasn't hungry but his
mother had insisted
that he eat something. He wondered if it was a way of making him stay in one
room hoping
that he won't hear her and his father fighting. Unfortunately it didn't work.
Their yelling could
probably be heard all down the street. He softly sighed. 'Why couldn't they
just get along?' he
wondered. Why was it always a fight?
He had wished many times that things could just go back to the way they were,
with his
little, so called, fairytale life. If only his mom hadn't slept with her
co-anchor. If only his dad
could get over his bruised ego and forgive her.
Dawson had finally had enough of their yelling. He picked up his dish and
walked over to
the counter placing them in the sink. He stopped when he had finished and
listened. No more
yelling! Good, maybe they were finally talking like civilized people. He had
spoken too soon, the
yelling started up again. He sighed and started to walk out of the kitchen. He
walked down the
hall and as he did he passed by the living room where his parents were fighting.
He stopped and
turned slowly shutting the large French door. Hoping maybe to drown out some of
the arguing.
They hadn't even noticed him do it.
He jumped up the stairs and down the hall
to his room. He
opened the door. He saw a person looking out the window. At a quick glance he
had thought it
was Joey. So he walked over quietly, he placed his arms around the "Joey's"
shoulders and sighed.
Then he heard something that shocked him so badly he jumped back.
" Oh Dawson! I never knew you liked me that way." a voice uttered, not a
voice
belonging to Joey but unfortunately one belonging to the one and only Abby
Morgan. Dawson
stared back in sheer horror of what he had just done.
" Abby? What the hell are you doing here?" He said angrily.
" Oh come on Dawson, you look like your head's about to explode."
" I thought you were Joey." He replied beginning to relax.
" Sorry to disappoint you Dawson but I could be who ever you want me to be."
She said
standing up and seductively running a single finger down Dawson's chest.
" Funny Abby."
" Who's joking?" She asked coyly.
" Abby I'm really not in the mood for your little games. So why don't you
just tell me
why you're here so you can leave." He said slumping down on the bed.
" Jesus Dawson, you really need to make those greetings more personable." She
answered getting upset. " If you really need to know, I was just keeping an
eye on our little
friend Jen."
" In other words you're spying on her."
" I'm just protecting her from her little, so called, date that's with her
right now. You
never know what kind of people you can run into these days. For all we know the
" Fisherman's
Friend" that's with her right now could be a rapist or a murderer. I'm just
trying to save Jen from
the horrors of society so she doesn't turn into a statistic." She said resuming
her place by the
window.
" Wait did you say she's dating a fisherman? Jen's really dropping her
standards isn't
she?"
" From you Dawson? Hardly, as far as I can see she took one gigantic step up
the dating
chain."
" Abby can you go spy on Jen somewhere else I'm really not in the mood for
chit chat
with a brat right now."
" Now, now Dawson no need to get testy. What crawled up your ass and died
today?"
She asked half concerned.
" Not that it's any of any of your business but my parents are arguing, yet
again." He said
sighing and looking up at the ceiling from his back.
" I know what you're feeling." She said standing up and sitting beside him on
the bed. He
shot right up.
" What could you possibly know Abby."
" Your parents aren't the only ones having problems in Capeside, Dawson. Get
over
yourself." She said angrily at him. " At least your mom didn't screw her co-worker!"
" No she didn't, she was too busy getting drunk and while my dad screwed
anything that
said yes!" Abby said jumping up and yelling at him. She grabbed her bag and
headed for the
door of Dawson's bedroom. Dawson's face dropped seeing how what he had said had
hurt her.
" Abby wait." He said stooping her. She turned around her face angry and
her arms
crossed over her chest.
" What do you want Dawson?"
" Look I'm sorry. I didn't mean any of those things I said." He apologized.
Abby's face
softened and she came back into the room. " I guess I'm just feeling sorry for
myself."
" You know you're the only person who has ever apologized to me. Most people
think I
can just handle it."
" Just like people think that I live in a fairytale. That couldn't be farther
from the truth."
" Who would have thought that Dawson Leery and I would ever have anything in
common." She and Dawson laughed. " You know Dawson, I'm not as tough as
people think I
am. I just act that way. I don't know."
" So you won't get hurt?"
" Yeah exactly." Abby smiled sincerely something she rarely did. Dawson looked
back at
her with some weird fascination like he was seeing a side of her that he never
had before.
" So what's happening with Jen?" He said shaking of the long intense stare
that they
were just involved in.
" Jen, right." She got up and went to the window. Dawson followed her. She
passed
him the binoculars that hung around her neck.
" Looks like they are getting a little hot and heavy over there."
" Shit!" She said upset. Suddenly the sound of something breaking rung
through the
house. They both turned startled toward the door. Dawson rolled his eyes and
sighed.
" Looks like they have come to the destructive phase." She said with a bit of
a laugh trying
to make him feel better. It didn't do much he gave a halfhearted smile and
fell back down onto
his bed. Abby looked from the window to Dawson and back again. After a few
seconds she got
up and walked toward the bed. She offered her hand to him. "Come on let's go for
a walk. It'll make you feel better."
Dawson looked at her and smiled, at the strange offer of kindness on Abby's
behalf. He
took her hand and jumped to his feet. The force of his pull and weight threw
Abby off her balance
a bit and she stumbled forward and grabbed Dawson for balance. Once she regained
it she realized
the awkwardness of the situation. She looked up at him and smiled, as their
breathing became
more rapid. Their eyes locked and their lips grew closer together. They were
about to kiss when
Dawson turned away.
" Sorry." He said apologizing.
" It's okay." She said squirming out of his arms.
" You still up for that walk?"
" Yeah."
Dawson and Abby come out of the house in silence. They started walking down
following
the shoreline of the water. Past Jen's house and on to the beach. Dawson
started to laugh under
his breath out of nowhere. Abby looked up at him confused.
" What's so funny?" She asked.
" No one would ever believe that we walked along the beach together."
" Why is that so hard to believe?"
" I don't know, we just don't seem to be the kind of people who would do this
with each
other."
" Don't worry, no one will ever know."
" What do you mean?"
" I mean that I'm not going to tell any one and neither are you." She said
starting to walk
again.
" Why not?"
" Dawson it would destroy both of us. Joey would think that something
happened and
my reputation would go on a major downfall. I figure it would be better if we
both just kept this
to ourselves."
" I guess you're right." Dawson sighed.
" Have we got a deal?" she asked. " We don't tell anyone anything that
happens here
tonight."
" Deal." Dawson smiled and they shook on it. " It's to bad we didn't have a
blanket,
there is supposed to be a meteor shower in a little bit."
" Really? Wait I have an idea." She grabbed his hand and took off down the
beach.
They ran up to a raised lifeguard outpost. Abby ran up and over to a small box.
She kneeled
down beside it and pulled a bobby pin out of her hair. The piece it was holding
up fell in her face.
She picked up the lock and stuck the bobby pin in. She played with it for a
second and it popped
open. Dawson looked back in amazement.
" I used to date a locksmith." She smiled and winked.
" That wasn't what I was thinking."
" What were you thinking?"
" I was wondering how you knew there was a blanket in there?"
" Wouldn't you like to know." She said coyly and pulled out the blanket.
They walked
back down the ramp and down the beach a little. Dawson grabbed the blanket and
spread it out
on the ground. Abby sat down and laid back and Dawson lay down beside her. They just
lay there looking at the sky waiting for it to start. They both looked in
amazement as the star
wised by them. They had both lost complete track of time. The meteor shower
began to slow to
almost a stop and some dark clouds began to move in. Abbey and Dawson hadn't
even noticed
them until they had almost completely covered the sky.
" Hey it looks like it about to rain maybe we should head back to my house."
Dawson
said turning to Abby.
" It's too warm to rain. I just want to see one more."
" I don't know if you'll be able to see it through the clouds, they're..."
" Look! There it is." Abby said interrupting him and pointing across his
chest and leaning
right on top of him. They looked down at each other again starting the intense
stare. They again
moved in closer to each other.
" No telling about anything that happens tonight right?" Dawson asked.
" Right." Abby said in a sigh. They moved closer until their lips met in a
a soft tender
kiss. It sent a shiver down Abby's spine. She had never been kissed like that
before. So sweetly and
softly. The kiss had the same effect on Dawson. He had never experienced such
passion. A few
raindrops fell on to Abby's back. She didn't even notice them until they
became hard and it
started to pour. Abby shrieked and they jumped up throwing the blanket over
their heads and
headed toward the lifeguard tower. They ran underneath to shelter themselves
from the rain. The
laughed and panted to catch their breath.
" It's too warm to rain is it?" Dawson joked.
" Shut-up I'm not the weather girl." They looked at each other.
" That was pretty intense out there huh?" Dawson asked.
" Yeah."
" Would you think I was a pig if I asked if we could do it again?"
" Would you think I was a slut if I said shut-up and kiss me." They kissed
again this time
more passionately. They pulled back and both asked at the same time,
" Does that answer your question?" They laughed and kissed again.
" You know this means nothing and changes nothing, right?" Abby said
between
kisses.
" Of course it's only our hormones. This never happened." Dawson knelt down
putting
the blanket under them and pulling it farther up as they laid back.

The sun shown down lightly on the water sending of a light yellow/orange glow
to the
water and everything around it. Dawson and Abby are lying beside each other.
Dawson's arm is
around her stomach and they are both sleeping silently. Dawson began to stir
and he slowly
opened his eyes. He was bit shocked to find that he was outside and with Abby
lying next to him.
He slowly remembered everything that had happened the night before. He
remembered his
parents fighting. He remembered finding Abby in his room. He remembered them
going for a
walk and watching the meteor shower and most of all he remembered them making
out. It hadn't
gone any farther then that but it was still nice. She had comforted him when he
had felt really
bad. Abby had woken up and turned over to see Dawson lying there.
" Hi." She said softly.
" Hi" He repeated. Abby got up and stretched Dawson slowly picked himself up
too.
" I guess we should be getting home." He said folding up the blanket. They
walked out
from under the tower. They put the blanket back in the box and walked back down
on to the
beach.
" Do you want me to walk you home?" Dawson asked Abby.
" No it's okay."
" Last night was great.." Dawson started.
" But we need to back to our lives, now." Abby finished. " I'll see you
around, Dawson
Leery."
" Definitely." They kissed one last time and walked away holding hands until
they were too
far away to reach anymore. Then they both went their separate ways.
Dawson walked back into his house. He took off his jacket and passed the living
room
where his mom was curled up in a chair sleeping. He took a blanket from the
couch and placed it
over her and kissed her on the cheek. He yawned and continued up the stairs to
his room. He
opened the door to his room. He saw a girl with her back to him lying on his
bed. At first glance
he thought it was Abby but at a better look he was happy to see it was Joey.
His Joey. He
walked over taking off his shoes and climbed beside her in the bed, wrapping his
arms around her.
She opened her eyes and looked up at Dawson. He smiled down at her.
" Where were you?" she asked half-awake.
" It's not important. Let's just stay here like this." Dawson pulled her
closer and kissed
her softly. Then closed his eyes and fell asleep holding Joey.

Abby walked down the streets of downtown Capeside. A huge smile plastered on
her
face. She heard her name being called from down the street she turned around to
see Jen running
up to her.
"Abby! Hey, I called you last night. Your mom said you were out, where'd you
go."
" Nowhere. Did you have a good night with Vincent?" she said sarcastically.
" No he turned out to be an ass. I'm sorry about yesterday by the way." Jen
apologized.
" Don't worry about it. I had a great time last night anyway. So where you
off to?"
" The coffee shop. Want to join me? My treat." Jen offered.
" Sure. That would be great. Maybe we can hit on some older business types
while we're
there." Abby said accepting.
" Hey, weren't those the same clothes you were wearing yesterday?" Jen asked
puzzled.
Abby just laughed as the two girls walked down the street toward the coffee
shop.
