Joey and Pacey arrive at Joey's porch. They held eachother's hands.
Joey: Wow. Um Pacey tonight, I really had a good time tonight. And I thought it was gonna be so horrible!
Pacey: I had a good time to, Jo.
They start kissing, but they didn't know Dawson was in the bushes, waiting to scare Joey. He watches them kiss and Joey go inside her house. He looked at Pacey bitterly as he watched him walk to the car.
Dawson:(quietly) How could he betray me?
He walked back to his house kicking rocks. The next day, he saw Joey running and laughing towards the docks. He ran after her, not knowing Pacey was behind them.
Dawson: Jo, wait up!
Joey: (turning around quickly, not laughing and stopped running) Oh hi Dawson What's up?
Pacey: Hey Dawson, my main man.
Dawson: Yeah yeah whatever.
Dawson looked around and cupped Joey's chin. He kissed her hard and Joey tried to pull away. Pacey's smile faded.
Joey: Geez, Dawson! What the hell was that for?
Dawson: I have feelings for you now, Jo.
Joey: Well, I don't. You were too late. You didn't want me at first and you didn't want me to go out with other guys either. It's not the movies,Dawson! Everything doesn't have to be followed in your script. Everything can't be perfect! And you can't have everything!
Dawson: But Jo, now I..
Joey: Look Dawson. If you did go out with me, your pathetic mind would still be stuck on Jen.
Pacey: Just leave her man. Let's go, Jo.
They both leave and walked to the Icehouse. Dawson turns and sees Jen.
Jen: Hi Dawson.
Dawson: Hey. I can't believe what just happened!
Jen: Me either.
Dawson: You saw?
Jen: I was following you, but when I saw you kiss Joey, I stopped.
Dawson: Yeah well she didn't kiss me back. What's the matter with me, Jen?
Jen: Maybe because you're too protective of her and she's getting sick of it. You need to let her follow her own heart, you can't just take it and stop right there. Joey has feelings. Feelings for Pacey. Life can't always what you want it to be, Dawson.
Dawson: Yeah but....
Jen: No buts, Dawson. She has Pacey. And you keep that attitude of yours, you would lose me.
Jen walks away. Dawson feels really dumb now. He walks home and turns on the TV.
Dawson: What ever happened to me?
