The Crow
Brandon Lee plays Eric Draven, a young rock guitarist, who, along with his fiancee, is brutally killed by a ruthless gang of criminals. Exactly one year after his death, Eric returns—watched over by a hypnotic crow—to seek revenge, battling the evil crime lord and his band of urban thugs, who must answer for their crimes.
Summary taken from the back of the video case
"The Crow" is a well-written and visually stimulating gothic love story. The characters are interesting and colorful, and you really feel for Eric and Shelly's unfortunate situation. 'Love story?' you question. 'But there's so much violence in it, how can you consider it to be romantic in any way?' Here's how I see it: Eric Draven and Shelly Webster are two young people who love each other very much. When they are killed, they are instantly torn away from each other. The heavy sadness that Eric's soul carries with him when he dies is what brings him back. Because he loved her so much, he must avenge her death, as well as his own. With the crow as his guide in the afterlife, Eric seeks out their murderers and finds justice by killing them. And I believe in what Brandon said in his final interview: the violence is very much justified. No one has ever died and come back from the dead to tell about it, so how would someone in Eric's situation act out his anger? He's acting out his rage, and sadness, as best as he knows how.
