It's Kraken!! The first real roller coaster to be added to the Sea World theme park!! Based on the success of the other parks in the area and considering that there are only so many times you can go to Sea World before wanting to vomit, Anheiser Busch made the crucial decision to add some excitment to the park!! Still in its initial stages of construction as of January 2000, we see the lift being built. Sweet!
The arial shot from the Sky Tower puts Kraken into perspective. It's a big fat sweet coaster! Looking something like a mix between Busch Garden's Kumba and Montu, the Kraken's lift already towers high above the rest of the park.
In keeping with the oceanic theme of the park, the coaster was named for a mythical monster of the sea: the Kraken, a giant squid that attacked ships at sea and dragged them down to a watery death!! Here's hoping that the coaster can live up to its name...
