What is Slash?

Slash is the insertion of a / symbol between two character names of the same sex, to indicate homoerotic material.

The characters can be from television, books, film, etc, and in the case of the Sentinel, is usually Jim and Blair - abbreviated to J/B. Simon or any other character can figure in many of the stories and you can use any combination of two (or more) men.

I haven't seen any female/female slash for Sentinel, but that doesn't mean there isn't any out there!

Reading slash is illegal if you are under the age of consent in your

part of the world, which is usually about 18.

We cannot physically prevent you from reading slash material if you are underage, but we would like to make it clear that we in no way encourage or sanction you doing so.

Now for the explanations of all the ratings...

 Ratings:

G - General content or Gosh, what's that doing here?

PG - 'Parental guidance' Usually used for stories that have little or no sexual content.

R - Story may contains some, mild bad language, kissing,

heavy petting, some violence. No one under 17 allowed in! (But, as it's slash, you shouldn't be looking in the first place!)

NC-17 - Can contain hot 'n heavy sex, violence, swearing, bdsm,

bestiality, etc. Adults only!

Other ratings:

m/m - romance between two male characters

f/f - romance between two female characters

m/f - romance between male and female characters (though this isn't strictly speaking slash, some stories might contain m/f pairings as well as m/m)

violence - pretty self-explanatory, isn't it?

h/c - hurt/comfort: when one character is put into physical/ emotional distress, and another gets to comfort them in some way.

angst - intense character emotional suffering! Usually goes well with h/c.

bdsm - bondage-domination-sado-masochism.

b/d is the tying up/disciplining of one character by another for both character's sexual gratification. s/m is the inflicting of consensual pain for the sexualgratification of both characters.

death story - involves the death of one of more of the major characters.

Some character deaths, such as Cassie, tend to be tolerated, but Jim/Blair ones distress many people.

n/c, rape - the story contains non-consensual sex or sexual acts.

If any or all of the above scenarios offend you, then may I suggest that you go to the Genfic pages, where you can find some excellent stories but without the sexual content.
