Shot mainly on location in Australia, the second installment of the action-thriller "Mission: Impossible," directed by John Woo, stars Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Thandie Newton, Dougray Scott, Rade Serbedzija, Brendan Gleeson, and Australians Richard Roxburgh & John Polson. The Cruise/Wagner Production is produced by Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner, and executive produced by Terence Chang and Paul Hitchcock. The screenplay is written by Robert Towne. The film is a Paramount Pictures Presentation. Paramount Pictures is part of the entertainment operations of Viacom Inc.

Tom Cruise returns to his role as Ethan Hunt in the second installment of "Mission: Impossible." Cruise was most recently seen in Stanley Kubrick’s "Eyes Wide Shut," co-starring Nicole Kidman. Cruise appeared in the title role of "Jerry Maguire" in 1996, for which he received his second Academy Award® nomination and won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy. He received his first Academy Award® nomination and won a Golden Globe Award for his portrayal of Ron Kovic in Oliver Stone’s "Born On The Fourth Of July." Cruise leapt to stardom in the 1983 hit "Risky Business" which earned him his first Golden Globe nomination. His other film credits include hits such as "Top Gun," "The Color Of Money," "Rain Man," "Days of Thunder," "Far And Away," "A Few Good Men," "The Firm," and "Interview With The Vampire." He will next be seen in a supporting role in "Magnolia," directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

Paula Wagner teamed with Tom Cruise in 1992 to form Cruise/Wagner Productions. "Mission: Impossible" was the first feature film to be produced under the C/W banner and was most recently followed by Robert Towne’s critically acclaimed "Without Limits," starring Donald Sutherland, Billy Crudup and Monica Potter. Prior to forming C/W Productions, Ms. Wagner spent almost fifteen years as an agent, during which time she represented Tom Cruise amongst others.

John Woo made his directorial debut in Hong Kong with "The Young Dragons" in 1973. Several successful pictures followed: "A Better Tomorrow" (1986), "A Better Tomorrow II" (1987), "The Killer" (1989), "Bullet In The Head" (1990), "Once A Thief" (1991) and "Hard Boiled" (1992). Woo made his U.S. feature film debut in 1992 with "Hard Target" starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. In 1994 he and his producer/partner Terence Chang formed WCG Entertainment and under that banner directed the box-office successes "Broken Arrow" and Paramount Pictures’ "Face/Off." In 1997 they formed Lion Rock Productions.

Ving Rhames recently starred in "Entrapment" and "Out Of Sight." He can be seen in the Paramount Pictures release "Bringing Out The Dead" starring Nicolas Cage and directed by Martin Scorsese. Other feature film credits include "Rosewood," "Pulp Fiction" and "Striptease" and in 1998 he won a Golden Globe for his performance in the title role of HBO’s "Don King: Only In America."

Thandie Newton’s film credits include "Besieged," "The Young American," "Loaded," "Interview With The Vampire," "Jefferson In Paris" and "Gridlock’d." Recently she received rave reviews for her performance as the title character in Jonathan Demme’s "Beloved" starring Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover.

Dougray Scott was born in Fife, Scotland and began his acting career in the theatre. He most recently appeared in "Ever After" with Drew Barrymore. His other film credits include "Twin Town," "Regeneration" and Paramount Pictures’ "Deep Impact." Scott will soon be seen in the forthcoming films "This Year’s Love" and Bill Forsyth’s "Gregory’s Two Girls."

Rade Serbedzija was most recently seen in "Eyes Wide Shut." Other film credits include "Mighty Joe Young," "Mare Largo," "Polish Wedding" and "The Saint," amongst others. In addition, Serbedzija has starred in over 40 films produced by all the major studios in the republics of the former Yugoslavia. He twice won the Golden Arena awards as Best Actor in the Pula Film Festival. His international film credits include "Broken English" and "Before The Rain." The latter won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and Serbedzija was given the Critics Award for Best Actor for his performance in that film.

Irish actor Brendan Gleeson began his career in 1990 and it has continued to flourish since then. Gleeson’s credits include: Neil Jordan’s "The Butcher Boy," Jim Sheridan’s "The Field," Michael Winterbottom’s "Love Lies Bleeding," Stephen Frears’ "The Snapper," Neil Jordan’s "Michael Collins" and Stephen Bradley’s "Sweety Barrett."

Richard Roxburgh attended Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), and has since received critical acclaim and numerous awards for his work on stage, film and television. Roxburgh’s film credits include "In The Winter Dark," "Thank God He Met Lizzie," "Doing Time For Patsy Cline," "Oscar And Lucinda" and many more.

John Polson began acting in Australian theatres such as the Nimrod and the Sydney Theatre Company. In 1986 he began his acting career in the mini-series "Vietnam." Some of his other credits include starring with Hugh Grant in "Sirens," "The Sum of Us" and "Blood Oath." Polson’s career spans Australian television, films, theatre and he directs both films and festivals.
