In 1952, Orson Welles directed, produced, and starred in "The Tragedy of Othello" which got fairly good reviews. In 1958, he was in "The Long, Hot Summer" along with Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. In this, Orson played Will Varner, the patriarch of a wealthy Southern family. That same year, Orson made one of his most famous masterpieces: "Touch of Evil". This film also featured Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh. This film is considered one of the best ever made, and contains one of the longest continuous shots in the history of Hollywood.

Note from the author
Orson Welles was one of the geniuses of the 20th century. He had it rough in Hollywood throughout his career, because his first movie was very controversial. Like Charles Foster Kane, Orson was always looking for something out of sight: another masterpiece like "Citizen Kane". His story was a sad one, shaded by unsuccessful attempts at creating another "Kane". But you have to give him credit for trying. From the time "Citizen Kane" was created, until his death in 1985, Orson Welles tried for success. But he never achieved the success that he deserved.
