One of my favorite actresses!

Jennifer Jones was born Phyllis Isley on March 2nd, 1919. While traveling with her parents' acting group, Jennifer decided that she wanted to be an actress. In 1943, Jennifer got her first big break in Hollywood. She was to star in a movie called "The Song of Bernadette." Jennifer won a Best Actress Academy Award for this film. It also starred Vincent Price, Gladys Cooper and Edith Barrett.

In 1944, Jennifer starred in "Since You Went Away", which also starred Claudette Colbert, Joseph Cotten, and Shirley Temple. Jennifer was again nominated for an Oscar, this time for Best Supporting Actress, but she lost. In 1945, Jennifer was again paired with Joseph Cotten, in one of my favorite films, "Love Letters." Jennifer was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, but lost.

In 1946, Jennifer was again paired with Joseph in "Duel in the Sun", which also starred Gregory Peck, Lillian Gish, and Charles Bickford. Jennifer was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as the "half-breed" Pearl Chavez, but lost. I'm not a fan of westerns, but this is a must see!

In 1948, Jennifer and Joseph were paired together for the fourth and final time in "Portrait of Jennie". In this movie, Jennifer starred as Jennie Appleton, the beautiful girl who died mysteriously years ago...didn't she?
