Celebrity Autograph Information

Recently, I've taken up a new hobby. I've been going on Elizabeth's great page (Reelclassics.com) and finding classic celebrity addresses. Then, using two big envelopes, some cardboard, stamps, paper, and my imagination, I've been sending letters and autograph requests to my favorite stars!

In the beginning of the year, Elizabeth redesigned her already fantastic celebrity address page, and now she has almost 800 names on the list! Because some people abused the information Elizabeth provided by visiting some of the celebrities, she has had to start all over by writing to each celebrity, asking if she would be allowed to have their address on her page. This is very expensive and time-consuming process, and Elizabeth is very generous to do it for her webpage guests. A lot of the stars have already responded, and the list is really doing great!

One day in the beginnning of July, as I was browsing Elizabeth's page, I came across the celebrity addresses, and decided to write to some celebrities. The first person I wrote to was Ernest Borgnine, and I have some information on him below! The next person I wrote to was Esther Williams. After about two weeks, I received my self-addressed stamped envelope that I had enclosed. I ripped it open, and discovered a beautiful 8"-by-10" photograph, signed by Esther Williams! I was so happy, that I ran around showing it to my whole family. Then I went out and bought the prettiest picture frame I could find. Finally, I found a great place for the picture on top of my dresser in my bedroom, and left it there for all to see.

After this success, I decided to go on to Elizabeth's page again, and get some more celebrity addresses. I came across the addresses of some of my favorite stars: Ann-Margret, Kim Hunter, and Virginia Mayo. I wrote letters to all of these women, and sent them on their way. After only a few days, I received another self-addressed stamped envelope. I figured it was Kim Hunter's autograph, since I live only about an hour away from New York City, where she lives. Not only did I receive a personalized picture, I received a lovely little note answering my questions. I went out and got two picture frames this time: an 8" by 10" for the picture, and a 3" by 5" for the note she sent. I proudly displayed both on my bookcase in my room.

About three weeks later, I received my autograph from the beautiful Virginia Mayo. Unfortunately, I was running out of places to put these pictures. But then, I decided to do a collage on an empty wall in my room. Placed in a pretty (and pricey!) silver frame, I hung the picture on my wall.

Now, I'm just waiting to get back some of the many autographs I've requested. Unfortunately, I did get some "return to senders", and some may never respond, but I had fun writing to them. It also gives me something to look forward to. Every day, I check my mail to see if one of my big brown envelopes has come back. It's really great to get them, and not only do I treasure these autographs, I'll be able to pass them down to my children someday.
