- Years of textbooks covered in the slime of our youthful ignorance, regurgitated
through the ipecac-like efficiency of writer's block. The story goes: Walt and Johnnie
decided to skip the usual free-form approach to making a racket one night and
decided a series of musics based on the rigid rules of mathematics. Soon after, both
realized that they did not know any such rules. "Isn't there some formula to find out
how many sides are in a right triangle?" asked Walt. All that was accomplished was a loose-leaf
piece of paper covered in crude sketches of pentagrams. Some patterns were hammered out, though,
and the two commenced to experiment and postulate. The results were less than desirable,
although no raw data is better than any other in the world of Science. So, the two failed
hypothesizers threw three sheets to the wind and set sail on a meloncholy journey on waves
of trepidation, taking a handicapped guitar along. This album therefore is made up of two different
approaches--that of the blind Idiot, careless but worry-free, and that of the determined
Thinker, who moves with caution in the realm of those greater than he. Melodies based on the nearest
approximation of pi intertwine with coughed-up hairballs of the town drunk. Chord structures
teased from a sextagonal visualization of the 12-tone scale pop up between otherwise directionless
schools of noise and skronk. Sure to be thrown in there with all the other Math Rock bands
nowadays.
