"Stranger In A Strange World" was the introduction of The Sovereign; Ares, the God of Love; and Aphrodite as Marion the Librarian! The first three shots are of The Sovereign. This was a change-of-pace role that Kevin Sorbo obviously loved sinking his teeth into. He pouted, growled, flexed and taunted his way through the whole episode and, boy, did we love it! We also met Iolaus 2 or "Jester Iolaus" for the first time in this episode. Series' actors love it when they get to play another character; as Michael did when he gave us the Widow Twanky in "Fancy Free." And little did we know Jester Iolaus would play such an important role in future episodes of Hercules. The director, Michael Levine, said Michael improvised the entire bit outside with the two Herculeses -- running, jumping, pratfalls. (Photo #4) Ares -- the fans have been sending letters -- "Give us more Ares." So I'm going to be adding more shots of him in future months. And I decided to start with this one because I just loved the idea of putting Ares and Jester Iolaus together. The ultimate Odd Couple. (Photo#5) Last but not least, three Iolaus shots. They are from "The Apple," "Armageddon Now," and "My Fair Cupcake." It's been a tough season for Iolaus, but we still have Michael with us, in his many incarnations, and for that we are all very grateful. |
