Star Facts


Like the title says...star (Mr. Thornton) facts. This is a some
what light hearted page. I didn't want to do a biography mainly because
I didn't want to get to personal or serious. I mean, know one wants to
relive the bad things that has happened or sad times that has past...well
most normal people don't. Not to say Billy Bob Thornton has had a
sad disturbing life or anything -- I'm just going to leave the personal
touchy stuff to another fan page to tackle.

  • Born: August 4, 1955

  • He is an actor, director, musician and screenwriter.

  • Between the age 19 and 20 Mr. Thornton worked
    in a nursing home. First as a janitor. When the higher
    powers realized he was good with the people he
    was moved up to a social director in the
    home. It didn't last long.

  • He once had long hair.

  • As a child he use to eat sticks of butter.

  • His mother is a psychic. She foresaw her son
    working with Burt Reynolds. And he did. Doing special
    appearances on the TV show Evening Shade.

  • Was noted as the heaviest baby in his
    county's history (30 pounds!)

  • His dad taught history and coached
    basketball at at local high school.

  • Billy Bob Thornton lived with his grandparents
    in the woods..with no indoor plumbing or electricity!

  • Out of high school Mr. Thornton worked as a
    farm hand and on screen-door assembly line.

  • One of his favorite TV shows: King of the Hill

  • Billy Bob Thornton is a rock'n'roller.
    He plays the drums and sings. He even opened
    for Hank Williams Jr.

  • While in Los Angles in '84 as a starving
    actor --literally-- he suffered from near-fatal
    malnutrition-induced heart failure. Caused
    by eating nothing but potatoes.

  • Almost majored in psychology in college. Instead
    he dropped out after two semesters.

  • Admires writer William Faulkner and Carson McCullers

  • Has three children and four ex-wives.

  • Won Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay
    for Sling Blade

  • Was in TV sitcom with John Ritter called
    Hearts Afire.

  • Cost 1 million dollars to make Sling Blade

  • Co-wrote A Family Thing

  • Won International Film Fantasy Award for Best
    Screenplay -- One False Move

  • His Oscar is locked away in safety deposit box

  • Mr. Thornton also worked at a saw mill and
    answering service.

  • Liz Taylor called Sling Blade her
    favorite movie in years.

  • Fears flying and antiques--only really old ones.

  • 1981 went to LA with 500 dollars to his name.

  • Went to New York for a very little while and
    then quickly returned to Arkansas.

  • Is sure to have nothing but success in the future!
