I met Adam Sandler here

I can remember that day like it was yesterday. It was February 15, 1996 a Thursday. Happy Gilmore was due to be released the next day, and I was excited. I checked the TV guide for weeks to find out when Adam would appear on this show, and when I found it, I was there, I cut class and everything. We waited for what seemed like hours to get good seats in the theater (if thats what you call it), which really didn't matter because the order of the line had nothing to do with it. I was really upset because after being about 5th in line we some how got mixed in with the rest, even latecomers. I was really aggravated by this time, but once I got in I saw a whole bunch of empty seats on the right side in the front. This is because the television cameras don't go over that far, I really wasn't worried about being on TV, I just wanted a glimpse of Adam.
Before I go any further, let me tell you about the penguin. Now as you all know in the movie Billy Madison, there is a penguin featured in the movie. So before the UCONN show I bought a stuffed penguin in hopes of throwing it to him, and since I couldn't I brought that damn penguin with me every time I went to New York, in hopes of running in to Adam. The Conan O'Brien show was my chance.

So anyways, the show was great, Conan, was really tall in real life, I couldn't believe it, when he introduced Adam I screamed my head off, the first and the loudest. I was so excited because he was only about 15-20 feet away from me. During the first commercial break I had my chance. I waved the penguin in the air, and started yelling Adam, a couple of times and he looked over at me. He started to laugh, and pretended to be drinking something, my friend said' "I think he's asking you out for a drink," (don't I wish), So he continued goofing around, communicating with me, and I mouthed, this is for you, and he said "ok," and that he would get it after his segment. When the show comes back in you can see Adam saying something to Conan about me and the penguin, and while taping he glanced up at me and smiled. Naturally, I had my name, addresse, and phone number on it. After he sang Steve Polychronolpis, he came over to me and I gave him the penguin and told him I loved him, he said "thank you", mumbled something, laughed and went out the door, My life was complete. He never called though.
