Kurt Donald Cobain's Biography
Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20, 1967 to become an influential, artistic and
musical genius. He was born to a waitress and a mechanic. When he was little they moved to
Aberdeen from Hoquaim, staying in Seatle.
This was a bad move. Aberdeen was rundown and depressing.
Despite the move, Kurt remained a beautiful, happy young blonde. He was full of energy,
and have a hugely positive attitude towards life. His mother especially loved him.
But then when he was seven years old his parents got a bad divorce. This upset him a lot. He
became depressed. He was withdrawn.
His uncle in Aberdeen gave him a guitar for his birthday, knowing how much he loved
music, reading and writing. Kurt fell in love with his guitar. You can hear his original tunes and
voice in the wonderful documentary, "Kurt and Courtney" availabe to rent in most places.
Kurt was given to different family members from then on but was a constant interuption
and very hard to deal with.
When he was a teen he visited a nearby city to hear the Sex Pistols (Sid Vicious...) play. He
found himself extremely intruiged. He thought he finally fit in somewhere which he had never
found before.
He had another friend who loved Sex Pistols. He was gay and Kurt hung around him all the
time. Kurt accepted that he, himself, was gay. People at school teased him and eventually he lost
touch with his friend and realized that he wasn't gay, but he needed to feel secure and loved,
which he hadn't felt since he was 7 years old.
In 1986, Kurt formed the group "Nirvana" after a few different bands, along with a few
drummers, changing now and then, but eventually Chad Channing for a while and Dave Grohl
since '91, and Krist Novoselic on base.
By 1989, their first album, "Bleach" came out. Geffen Records liked it a lot.
Geffen became their label and they released their surely most popular CD, "Nevermind."
Their first hit, Smells Like Teen Spirit, a song written about the deoderant brought Nirvana
into the world. People loved Nirvana and the new hit song. Kurt actually hated playing that song
for audiences. The album sold 10 MILLION copies.
The whole show business was extremely hard for the really sensitive and vulnerable, insecure
Kurt. He felt guilty. He knew of people who couldn't wait to be on stage. Millions of people came
to his concerts and he felt like he didn't appriciate it enough. Some say that's why he killed
himself.
He produced two more albums, "Insecticide," and "In Utero."
All during this time he had marryed Hole musician, Courtney Love, had a baby, Frances
and become and heavy drug user and had been in and out of rehab centers a few times. He was
mainly into heroine to cope with the stress, and to help his stomache ulcers. People may get a
sense of baddness about the drugs, but he has said before that he doesn't feel bad for himself and
that he chose to do drugs but can't say anything good about them.
Now, there are a lot of theories about his death. I will first tell about the most accepted
theory, suicide.
He was supposed to be at his huge home (which he felt he didn't deserve) but when the
electrician couldn't get in, he looked in the windows to find Kurt dead with blood in his ear.
He was pronounced dead on April 4, 1994, suicide.
Now, for the other theory. This theory is explained in the movie, Kurt and Courtney. Some
people believe that Courtney Love had a man kill him for her, El Douche. He says that she
offered him $5,000 to kill him, and once he said this to the public, he was killed a week later.
Why would she do this? They were divorcing and the next day, he would have gotten all his
money, but if he was killed first, she would get all his royalties and money.
Some people say that she only marryed him because she thought girls couldn't get famous.
Proof? Well, El Douche admitted to it and the police found none of Kurt Cobain's
fingerprints on the gun he supposedly used. There were no prints, and he couldn't have wiped
them off after he was killed and no gloves were found on him.
5,000 people went to Seatle to morn his death.
That was the end of an ingenious, insecure, kind, inspirational man, Kurt Donald Cobain.
