For those interested in a show/breed puppy, we are experienced in training/conformation showing to a Championship title. Please fill out our questionnaire to reserve a puppy from planned litters.  We do not raise "kenneled" dogs. Our Shar-Pei live with us and are a part of the family. We have 1 to 2 litters per year and do take reservations on these planned breedings. Before a breeding is done, we investigate the background (pedigree) of the sire and the dam for a history of health, Shar-Pei standard, and temperament.

Prices may vary, depending on the color, sex, show/breed possibilities, etc.  When purchased, all shots should be up-to-date, 3-4 generation pedigree given, re-registration in new owners name provided, health guarantee provided, recent Vet. check done, future assistance and information from the breeder assured. If the breeder will not provide this, don't be too quick to purchase, you will fall in love with that little puppy you bring home very fast. Purchasing a puppy from a breeder that does not provide guarantees, written contracts, pedigree history, etc,  may cost a lot later on with a big expense in surgery or other vet bills. A good breeder will encourage you to see the sire and dam and even provide references of past sold puppies.

Most breeders will give preference to companion/show/breed homes for puppies in the litter that show outstanding qualities. Companion only puppies can also be reserved. If a breeder is experienced in their breed lines and have the benefit of past breedings and what was produced, the breeder should be able to advise you on what they expect in the upcoming litter.
If you are serious about reserving a puppy from a healthy line that you trust, the breeder may agree to take a deposit with a signed contract and agreed upon price.

1) Puppies, that the breeder feels, would not promote the breed in a breeding program or live up to the breed standard: expect to pay $550 - $750.00
2) Puppies that will be neutered/spayed with no disqualifying breed standard faults and have breed/show potential: expect to pay $750.00 - $1250.00
3) Puppies wanted for companion/show/breed: expect to pay $1500.00 and up.(agreed upon breed/litter/show considerations may adjust this price) Future breeding considerations can be considered. A written guarantee, that this puppy will have no disqualifying faults should accompany this contract. Having the breeder keep your show/breed puppy prospect until at least 6 months of age should be considered. You may even want to consider letting the breeder get it's Championship title in the conformation ring. Assurance that this puppy is indeed show/breed quality is very important since your family can grow very attached to that little puppy you bought as show/breed.

IS BREEDING CHEAP? ( a now you know article)

Absolutely not! If you are breeding to improve the breed and not just pumping out puppies, which will untimely come back to haunt you, you will soon realize that the cost of that healthy little puppy does not come cheap. When a breeder has championed or multi championed stock and abides by strict breeding rules as far as health, temperament, hips x-rayed, etc., the above cost of a puppy is well justified.
The following is submitted as information on the cost of producing a litter and does not include the original cost of your foundation bitch which will cost anywhere from $2500.00 to $3000.00 depending on the arrangements you make with the breeder. In addition to this, there is the cost of training, championing, and food/vet expenses for the bitch until age 2 years.  This will be an additional $1500 to $2000.  Of course we have not mentioned the time involved in whelping, socializing, house and lead training, advertising, etc. before this litter goes to their new home.

One final thing. Many want guarantees for a multiple of things yet are reluctant to pay the price accordingly. Remember, your BEST guarantee is to see the mom and dad of your puppy and even ask for vet records if need be. Your puppy will be no healthier than it's pedigree. Your breeder should answer your puppy concerns of health, temperament, other problems you may encounter. If they cannot or do not, question why they are breeding puppies in the first place.
Some are quick to do all sorts of surgery on your puppy that may or may not be necessary. Get that second and even third opinion and then only from a knowledgeable vet that has  experience with the Shar-Pei.  Chinese Shar Pei Friendly Vets - 'Around the World'
