About this site and it's creator
Hiya and thanks for visiting the snail site! Whether you own a pet, are doing a school project, or just wandered on in 'cos work was boring and you have a free net connection, I hope you'll find something of interest within this site.
This site was born around 1997 (she says checking the counter!), and began as a rather poor, lonely, single page, the main object of which, other than to promote snails as pets, was to enable me to practice my html (oh my god, it really works!!!!!) and to at least get some use out of the webspace which, at the time, I was paying for! So now you know why this site contains lots of typos, html errors and pointless bits of code - some which do stuff, some which don't! - I do it all myself, in my not-a-lot-of spare time! Unfortunately the URL for this test page got released (can't remember by who now, but I remember being horrified that people might see this messy little page I had up!) - this forced me to redesign the one page, add another couple of pages ... well, the rest, as they say, is history!
When I first set this page up, as a new snail owner too, I was desparate for information .... I couldn't find anything on-line, anywhere - other than how to cook them (yuk!) - so I set this page up to 'try and make contact' - since then, hundreds of owners have 'slimed' out of the wood work and made contact (and in many cases contributed to this site and its development!), and I have made many 'snailey' friends. The pool of knowledge on these little creatures (the snails, not thier owners!) grows each day, and with new and very informative websites springing up all over the web there's no way I could fit every bit of information on this site, but hopefully the bit I do have here, all written from a pet owners point of view, will be of some use to you and your snails!
So why snails? Just a strange person I guess! ;-) Why goldfish eh? Relaxing yes, and at least you can touch a snail (ok, so many people wouldn't want to but....!). Basically I just think they're cute! Anyway, for those still reading, I'm (at the time of writing this intro, though this may change by the time I get the revamped site up and running! ;-) 26, I live in East Sussex, England, and I work as a typist in a University. That's about it really .... that and look after snails (in addition to rats and cats!) in my off duty hours!
Please note: Nowdays I don't seem to get much time to deal with snail related e-mails, so if you have an urgent query, please join cybersnail (it's free and you can unsubscribe afterwards!) and ask the experts there for help!
