Andrew Glenn was born on June 1, 1834 in County Tyrone, Ireland. His parents
were Thomas and Mary Alexander Glenn. Andrew married Mary Ann Yates,
daughter of William and Ann Caldwell Yates, on August 23, 1860 in Bowling
Green, Ohio.
Andrew and Mary Ann were the parents of four children:

Dante Alexander (1866)
Gertrude (1868)
Everett Garnet (1874)
Andrew served as a Union soldier in the Civil War. He enlisted in the 14th
Volunteer Regiment, Company A, and served from 1861 to 1865. Andrew was 27
years old when he enlisted; he had only been married for two
years and had an infant son.
Andrew was captured at the battle of Chickamauga
in 1863 and incarcerated in Andersonville prision. He escaped and made his
way back to his home in Ohio. He received his discharge on April 25, 1865.
Andrew died on September 9, 1887 when he was 53 years old. His death was a result of illnesses he contracted in Andersonville. He is buried in Bowling Green, Ohio.
