Problems with other Standard Reports
|
|
Calendar
|
|
-
Indicated preferences
are ignored by the program in placing anniversaries on the calendar. Past
partners, divorced long ago, may continue to be included.

Data Errors
|
|
-
Spurious "potential
duplicate names" are reported when a/k/a are present for individuals who
have a reported birth date, if the a/k/a and the real name have the same
surname.

[Online] FamilyFinder Report
(OFFR/FFR)
|
|
-
The FamilyFinder Report cannot be formatted
in any useful way. Each line is so long that it runs off the right margin.
Using large virtual paper (Print Setup) increases the gutter between the
columns but still runs off the right margin. Sheets of size "C" in Landscape
orientation sometimes work, but the two columns are then so far separated
as to preclude viewing both at the same time.
-
The FamilyFinder name matching
algorithm plays too loose with names, particularly married females,
generating far too many red herrings, which hide the productive leads.
-
The FamilyFinder Report has no means of recording your
progress
(i.e. some sort of bookmark), requiring pencil and paper note taking.

Analysis of the matching algorithm. |
|
-
The FamilyFinder Report has no means of displaying
the underlying URL of the found entries and, hence, no way to avoid pages
already
investigated or otherwise known to be non-productive.

Family Group Sheets
|
|
-
If the birth location is entered without a date, the
field title will be missing. If John Doe was born in Germany, the Sheet
will say "in: Germany" with no definition as to whether this is birth,
death or marriage info. If a marriage date was entered, "in: XXXX" will
appear above the marriage date, while the death date will appear below
it. Without the field title one must guess what the printed data pertains
to. One can get around this annoyance by choosing to include titles of
empty fields at the expense of additional page real estate. [McE]

Null
names (entered as "\\") print as <unnamed> most elsewhere,
but show as null in FGS, leading to peculiar results. Here,
the second of three spouses is "\\".

Kinship Report
|
|
-
Spouses are automatically included, with no option to exclude them, doubling
the size of the report for minimal increased information.

Medical Information
|
|
-
Report omits
Cause of Death and Height & Weight.

Scrapbook
|
|
-
Scrapbook: When
inserting pictures, with "preview picture" checked, sometimes must
uncheck
then check again the option box to make it work.
-
Scrapbook: The description
space is four lines deep, but will not accept paste of multi-line data
from the clipboard.
