do I position an image in a Book Text Item?
|

Drag & Drop
An image in a Book Text Item can only be repositioned by "Drag & Drop".
Text will automatically be flowed around it. |

Left, Centered and Right
The Justification Buttons that position text do not work with images, but
you can get the same effects manually.
To position at the left or right margin, drag the image
into place. It will refuse to go beyond the margin.
To center an image:
-
Place the image in its approximate position
-
On a blank line above (or below) the image, place two periods (..)
– and nothing else.
-
Click the Justification Button for centered text to center the periods
-
Place the cursor between the periods and insert enough spaces to move the
periods to approximate the width of the image.
-
Move the image, if necessary, to align the edges with the periods in the
guideline.
You can remove the guideline or leave it in place. The two periods will
be nearly invisible in the final document. |

Page Breaks
The text editor does not indicate where the page breaks will occur, so
the only way to avoid awkward placement is by cut and try. A utility that
allows you to preview (and abort) printed output will be useful (e.g. FinePrint). |
Version 6 included a feature that shows
where the page breaks will be. |
