PIPPIN'S VIEWS
Some of Mom's friends are wondering why there was not a picture of me on the SHIH TZU page. That's an easy one to answer, I'm not a Shih Tzu. I am very special cause MOM picked me as the something different in the house I am a Miniture Schnauzer but some times I act just like a shih tzu with a bad coat. Mom tried to put a picture of me on this page but somehow got a funny ! in front of the file number and was not able to transfer in so she is working on that. IN the mean time I am a black and silver, and I am just a little on the small side.
MOM said I could have a page all to myself if I put something on it that was worth the time it would take to do it so the following is my version of some things I have read by PEDIGREE & others
THE 12 GOLDEN RULES OF RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP
Know and obey local leash laws. At the same time, avoid leaving your dog tied out in your yard for long periods. We dogs are social animals and require companionship. Leaving us tied out for extened periods tends to lead us to barking and agressive behavior.
Consult your veterinarian about spaying or neutering your dog.Neutering not only helps to control the severe pet overpopulation problem, it also has health benefits. Spaying reduces the risk of mammary cancer, espcially if done prior to your dog's first heat. It also reduces the possibility of uterine infections and cancer. Neutering prevents prostate disease and testicular cancer in male dogs. It also reduces or eliminates fighting between males, roaming, urine marking and mounting behavior.
License and place identification on your dog.Rabies vaccination and licensing are require by law in most state. In addition, you should identify you dog with a name tag, tattoo or computer chip in chase he gets lost.
Provide regular veterinary care for your dogAnnual vaccinations, checkups and dental exams are essential to good health.
Train your dog in good manners. Just like noone really enjoys children who do not behave, no one enjoys dogs no matter how small that do not behave.
Feed your dog a balanced diet and provide it with fresh water at all times.
Always clean up after your dog in public places.
Keep your dog clean and groomed. Regular grooming keeps your dog looking his best and helps to detect and control skin parasites that could be passed to people.
Play with your dog at least 20 to 30 minutes a day. Avoid Chase games, tug of war, and wrestling.
Exercise your dog at least 30 minutes daily. Brisk walks, jogging, and ball playing are enjoyed by many dogs.
Provide your dog with a chance to socialize with people and other dogs. Do not leave him cooped up in the yard or house.
LOVE, ADMIRE AND RESPECT your dog as your companion and as an individual. Your dog is a wonderful, beautiful, and intelligent member of the canine species. Be patient with him if you run into problems. Don't hurt him, abandon him or ignore him. GET HELP BEFORE YOU GIVE UP ON HIM....
