BRAYERING TIPS

The Brayer is one of the most versatile tools. You can use almost any paper and a large variety of inks. Combine with stencil pages and you have a wide variety of backgrounds too. **Sponge Brayer works best with the stencil pages..**

CLEANING: To clean the Brayer roller, simply roll over wet towel or damp cloth ad then wipe dry. Use a stamp cleaner for dark or dried ink residue. (Non alcohol non ammonia.) I have also rolled the Brayer in a shallow pan of water and dry with a towel.

RAINBOW INK: Good place to start.
Ink up your Brayer keeping the Brayer turning when you do this. Roll Brayer over ink, constantly in one direction, then do the same on the paper, as well as going over the edge. This ensures even color on the paper and the Brayer. Repeat the process, and don't worry about lines or uneven color on the first few passes, color evens out with repeated applications. Be careful not to mix your colors in the pad keep in the same directions and colors.
If your paper is wider than the Brayer, re-ink Brayer using the same colors, same method as before and turn your paper around to blend the colors and this looks like a pattern of colors. i.e. it would look like this. With a rainbow pad Ex. Orange, red, purple, blue, green, blue, purple, red, orange. So that the green is over lapping the green when you turn your paper around. Repeating the process, the colors will intensify. Now stamp you image in Black or a dark color or layer on.

SOLID INKS:
These work well, you can get any color paper that you have in ink. Ink up Brayer same as before going in one directions on the pad. But this time roll over paper in all directions to insure a well inked, even covered paper and turning your paper too. Repeat the process, an don't worry about lines or uneven color on the first few passes, color evens out with repeated applications. & this helps prevent from lines. Be aware some inks fade. Repeating this process, colors will intensify. Try this stamp and emboss an image in white or clear. and then Brayer over embossed image.. kwl

MARKERS & BRAYER:
Turn your Brayer on its back, roller up. As you turn the roller, use Your markers and color with them directly on the roller. You can do this to create your own rainbow effect or to make your own stripes and squiggles, just by moving the marker as you turn the roller while inking roller. Do not go over the lines as this will create a shadow effect. You can make your own plaid effects this way, or party squiggles, borders, Balloon strings & More..

BUBBLE EFFECT:
Try this one ink up Brayer in any color you like, then take a piece of bubble wrap bubble side up, now ink up those bubbles. Now turn inked bubbles over, ink side down onto your paper. Then clean Brayer real quick. Now go to the bubble wrap, with clean Brayer and ink side down on the ppaer still. NowBrayer over bubble wrap real good. Lift and see you have a bubble effect to your paper now. OR try this one.....Take and wrap string around Brayer real good and in different directions too. Then ink up string, Brayer on to paper, and get some scratchy looking, effect.

Try this one: take saran wrap, crinkle it up and wrap it around brayer. Ink Brayer, with saran then roll onto paper.

MARBLING EFFECT:
Using the Brayer an a Damp Sponge, put ink on sponge, then roll Brayer over sponge, then roll Brayer over paper/CS this will give it a marble effect.

Larger than life Stamps:
Ink those huge stamps with the Brayer for quick even color. Ink Brayer, roll over stamp surface until evenly inked, then stamp.

MIRROR IMAGE: ( image reversal)
Ink up stamp and carefully roll Brayer across it. Roll Brayer across card causing the shadow effect. Now stamp original stamp directly on to card causing a shadowing effect.

BRAYER OVER LACE:
Use paper lace, paper doilies, and create a neat effect. Use inked Brayer with desired color. Brayer over paper, makes a great design on the cards, or just across the edge of the card. now you can use the card and the colored lace. Try using real lace too. play and have fun. These are some of the many uses that I do with my rubber Brayer.... I sure hope this helps you and you find this informative too.
