For the top band, I suggest you choose colours that work well with your fabric and other band's colour choices and that you backstitch around the letters.
The bottom design calls for large stitches in the middle to be yellow lazy daisy stitches with a blue french knot or bead in the centre, but of course this can be easily adapted to your own preferences. These stitches show up as black for easier viewing of pattern. Backstiching between flower border should be in DMC 367 to match flower leaves.

To clarify the symbols on this page, they have been changed. DMC 3609 Plum vy lt is the symbol which looks like a dot on the chart of the first choice. The closest I could come to it is a period.
