Let's think about
decorating for your party.
Be sure you stay with your theme.
Next, make a list of thinks you'll need for decorating.
First decide where
you are having it held. Inside the home
or outside on the Patio or maybe in the backyard in a
Screened Tent. The idea number of guest for this party is
small group of maybe 4 or 5 children.
All little girls love to play dress up . Here is a idea you can
use for your party. If you have a old trunk this would be
ideal. If you don't have one you might use a large sturdy
cardboard box with a lid on it. You can cover it with contact
paper to make it looks more like a old trunk. Once this is
done for the delight of all little girls fill it with old dresses
,shoes ,hats ,gloves ,and you might take a shoe box and fill
with old jewelry. As each child arrive to the party let them
pick for the trunk something to wear. Search for those you
may have on hand or check out the Thrift Stores,Flea
Markets, Garage Sales,or Antique Stores.
For the table you again can use a picnic table if this is to
be held out side or if you have child size table and chairs,
again this depends on the age of the children and how
many are to be there. Use a larger doilies for the center
piece where you can place a small basket of silk flowers
and nut cups filled with mints and nuts. At each child
place setting put another doilies and on this put your plate
teacup or glass, napkin, and silverware ,(you can use a
ribbon to tie around the napkin with the silverware inside
it) These ribbons maybe taken home with each child as the
leave. Each chair here again you might decorate it with
ribbons and tulle and silk flowers. At each setting as a gift
to child you might place a miniature Tea Service that they
can take home with them after party.
The day before the party so it less stressful you can
decorate if it to be held inside. If it to be held outside you
should wait till the day of the party.
To cut cost for tables decorating outside you can use a white
bed sheet and cover it with a old lace curtain. If you are
using a Screened in Tent to hold the party in you could
use Artificial Flowers around the edge of the tent to make
it look more like a gazebo.
Favors can be placed where each child is to set at the table ,
something that each child can take home with them as a
remembrance of the party.
This again can be simple and easy to make. Here is a idea
I like to use.
Here is a list of thing you'll need to make them. The
Birthday Child can help with this project.. Make a list of
thing you will need.
1. Check around for small boxes with lids, any shape will
work.( They can be attach or separate)
2. 1 snap cap or bottle cap from a container.
3. glue or low temperature glue gun ,glue sticks ,scissors
, toothpicks pencils.
Be sure if using a glue gun that they have Adult
supervision.
4. Material ,this can be odds and end you have on hand or
try local fabric store for scrap material. Also Old lace
curtains work really nice to cover boxes with. Felt pieces of
any color works nicely as well.
5. 1 nice size pony bead or a wooden round button or even a
old brooch.
6. beads ,buttons, old pins with pin part removed, old
necklace beads.
Directions for making favor:
1. Clean and dry the cap. Take a pencil with the cap and
draw a circle on the felt. Cut the felt and glue this to the
inside if the cap.
2. Measure your material and glue it to the top of the box
lid. Once it is dried you can decorate it the lid .
3. Glue your large pony bead or the brooch to the top of the
cap once you have cover it .This will be used to lift the lid
off when you open it.
4. Measure the around the outside and the bottom of the box.
Measure the width of the box also , add a little extra to the
width of the material so when you glue it to the box you can
put some on the bottom and inside to make it neater(clip
material so it is neat and smooth while gluing it to bottom
and inside. With the felt you have measured for the bottom
then glue this to cover the raw edges of material. You may
also want to cover the inside of the box with felt.
5. Now that you have the box covered you can decorate it
with beads if you like or leave it with just the material
showing.
6. Fill each box with a surprise of either make-up or
jewelry (hair barrettes, necklaces ,rings)this also depends
on the age of the child.
Other ideas you might like to try :
Purchase a Teacup and saucer.Take a piece of netting or
lace (this can be from a old clean lace curtain to cut cost)
fill it with candy or potpourri and tied with a ribbon.
