Family starts with the family name of De Gaetano, in Italy and with the Roman conquest they moved North to the Isle of Man where the name changed to Gheten, then to England where the name changed to Gatton - Gayton. It was in Ireland where my family came,
Gayton,Thomas and Elizabeth (c.1750)had a son Thomas who went to the Americas, settled in Argyle Nova Scotia. His son Daniel went to Malden MA, while his son Isaac went to Gloucester MA. Where Lester Freeman Gayton was born, and his son Roger Irving Gayto

I am trying to locate a French connection (ha! ha!). The earliest record I have is a Charles R. French (born about 1818) from a 1850 census in Fayette, Iowa. The census said he was born in Connecticut. Any links? Your site is wonderful and very large.

or what family tree program you are using????
But if you have not been to http://www.myfamily.com then you are missing a great site for your family info. (One drawback it is a priviate by invitation site) It is, though, I believe accessable through Ancestry.com when doing name searches.
Anyway, as I viewed your site I found it difficult to run through the info.
Also, if you post surnames in RootsWeb there is also a good search engine for locating family connections.
Then there is also a program, which I don't subscribe to, which does an automatic name access.
Sorry, don't know the name of it, though an uncle of mine uses it, I wish you luck.
