Below is Benjamin Gregory and Joanna Palmer's marriage bond, dated Dec 21, 1818, the bondsman Robert Palmer is Joanna's brother.
Shown here is a note from the Clerk of the Court in Monroe Co. VA (now WV) saying that Robert Palmer made an oath that William Palmer acknowledges the written certificate and that he is willing for the couple to get married
Below is William Palmer's note dated Dec 20th, 1818, addressed to Huchesson? of Monroe Co., most of it cannot be read but, is signed by Robert Palmer and William Palmer
In 1820 Benjamin and Joanna are shown on the Augusta Co. VA census, from 1830 through 1850, they are shown on the Rockbridge Co. VA census. Below is their entry on the 1850 Rockbridge Co. VA census.
Below is a picture of a plaque that is in the possession of Mrs. Syble McNew, apparently Mary Catherine Gregory, daughter of Benjamin Gregory and Joanna Palmer, had this made to honor the memory of her husband, John Trigg McNew, three of their children and her Mother and Father. This plaque is very beautiful and well preserved, it is approximately 2 ft by 3 ft, on the next photo below the names and dates can be read.
By the dates on the photo below, we can see that, Mary Catherine Gregory McNew, lost her husband, mother and three children during a period of 12 days in Aug, 1873.
