IS THERE ANY WAY TO KNOW FOR SURE?
The Scriptures warn us about False Teachers. There will be False Teachers in the Church. We should expect to encounter them. How can we identify them?
THEY WILL PREACH "ANOTHER GOSPEL"
The early Church encountered about every False Teaching you could imagine. They met, identified and Ruled on what teachings were false, and Excommunicated False Teachers. This was to protect the Church so that we could have the True Gospel and Pure Doctrine today.
YESHUA (JESUS CHRIST) OUR RABBI HAS PROMISED TO PROTECT HIS CHURCH IN EVERY GENERATION
...I Will Build My Church, and the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18b
Knowing by this verse that Rabbi Yeshua Absolutely has Promised to Lead His Church in every generation, we can then look back at earlier generations to see the Way that He has Led His Church. Since there will be False Teachers in every generation, we should expect to discover them also in the early Churches and see how they were dealt with by them. There were, are and will be several Identifying Characteristics and Strategies and Tactics of False Teachers. Because Rabbi Yeshua has warned us about these things, we know that False Teachers will still be in the Churches today. Let us look at what they do closer in order to more quickly identify them.
FALSE TEACHERS HAVE DONE AND WILL DO THESE THINGS:
2. They cannot really back up their teaching with Rulings from the early Church. They may deny the Churches were One at that time with no major doctrinal differences between them. False Teachings do not have any Accepted Teaching grounded in the early Church which was Ruled by the early Churches as True Teaching to back them up.[1]
3. They will deny the authority of True Teachers in the early Church. This is because their False Teaching is not based on True Authority grounded in the early Church which Yeshua has Led in every generation. Sometimes they will try and distort meanings as well.
4. They may try to discourage you from studying the early Church to check out what they teach. It is "too complicated" they may say. They may also try to steer you away from anyone who tries to teach you about the early Church that Yeshua has Led in every generation. They may say "don't rock the boat" or "just go along" and if you don't, they may try to brand you as a "troublemaker" and try to turn others against you. They will separate from you and want you out.
5. They "shy away" from the term "Heresy". They may tell you there is "no such thing" as a Heresy, or "don't be a "Heresy Hunter". To create sympathy for their False Teaching, they may say that was "unkind" or "unloving" of the early Churches to do such a thing. They will tell you we are "not to judge" doctrines in the interest of "unity" or "loving" and that any valid Church Council or Synod that was called has no authority over their teaching. They may also say the "The New Testament or the early Church Rulings were for way back then, we are much more advanced today, so we can safely disregard them."
6. They may call themselves a "prophet". However, they have no backlog of their "prophecies" that supposedly "came from G-d" for you to check them out. If you ask them for their "prophecies" they may declare you "unbelieving" or "demon-possessed" or that you are rude to dare question their supposed "authority as a prophet". They will stall you. They use the title "prophet" or "bishop" as a form of spiritual tyranny over their followers.
7. They may tell you they can "see into the future" by Scripture, "Torah Codes" or "their correct understanding of prophecies" to predict the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Jesus said no man knows the "day, hour; times or seasons" but they might!
