THE CIVIL ARM

G-DS' SOVEREIGNTY IN THE SWORD

For, lo, I Begin to bring evil on the city which is called by My Name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I Will Call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, Saith the L-RD of Hosts.[1] Jeremiah 25:29

Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I Bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their Watchman: If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. Ezekiel 33:2

Think not that I AM Come to send Peace on Earth: I Came not to send Peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:34

OBEY THE MAGISTRATE

For he is the Minister of G-d to thee for Good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the Minister of G-d, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Romans 13:4

The Civil Arm has been set in the earth by G-d to keep Order and punish evildoers.[2] As Scripture says, he "bears the sword" which is ultimately the power of life and death over the citizenry. The Civil Arm can also make war against another nation. It is to do so for righteousness sake.[3] We are to Pray for the Civil Arm and all those in Lawful Authority; Bless them and Honor them.[4]

SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE

There are several examples that show the Separation of Church and State. One of them is the difference between the Two Tribes, Judah and Levi, in the Old Testament. Judah was the Ruling or Civil Arm (the State) and Levi was the Priestly or Religious Arm (the Church). The Church is to Honor and Obey the State in its Lawful Administration of its Duty. This question of Judah being over Levi in such matters was demonstrated during the time of David the king.

Later, the concept of Separation of Church and State was Ruled at the Concordat of Worms in 1122 A.D. under Emperor Henry V. See Councils and Synods of the Church.[4]

NO "PEACE ON EARTH"

Yeshua Said He did not Come to send "Peace on Earth, but a sword". Is there no True Peace whatsoever then? Not in "this world". There is and always has been True Peace only in His Kingdom. That is why the Gospel of the Kingdom is Preached by us.

Those who remain in "the world" can have a form of temporary respite, but they cannot know His Permanent Peace in their hearts outside His Kingdom.

[1]"The L-RD of Hosts": Adonai Sabaoth The L-RD of the Armies. His Hand Directs Judgment upon the earth as He Wills.

Jesus our Messiah has All Power in Heaven and in earth now. Matthew 28:18. Nothing happens apart from His Will. The wicked are raised up for the Day of Wrath and Eternal Condemnation as was the Pharoah of tne Exodus, or the Elect are raised up for Salvation, Forgiveness and Blessings Forevermore.

[2]Any Believer who has been unjustly accused can either bear it patiently and wait for the L-rds' Blessing, or have recourse in the Civil Courts. We are not to go to Court against another Believer. We are to go to them privately first, if they will not hear us, then take a witness and then if they will not hear us take it to the Church for a Decision. If the Believer has Repented, that is the end of the matter, and we are to Forgive them.

[4]Later, the Civil Arm, acting through what was known as the Divine Right of Kings, sometimes oppressed the people. In the 16th and 17th-Century Scottish and English Reformation such works as De Jure Regnum Apud Scotus and Lex Rex were published that demonstrated that the Right of the Civil Power was derived from a free people.

It was upon Lex Rex that John Locke, in secularized form, published his works saying that the Right of the Civil Power was from "the consent of the governed". Lockes' secularized phrases from Lex Rex were used by Thomas Jefferson when Jefferson wrote The Declaration of Independence of the United States.

[4]The Anabaptists during the time of Martin Luther and the 16th-Century Protestant Reformation, refused to obey the Civil Powers. They had been declared heretics by the Roman Catholic Church and flocked to the Reformation saying they were "protestants" also against Roman Catholicism. Then the Anabaptists were also Excommunicated by the Protestant Church as Heretics.
