~Warm
Winter Welcome~
 |
While winter is
not my most favourite season, I still enjoy it and when
it comes right down to it, I would miss the snow. The first
snowfall of the season is always the most magical. Or, even
better, when you go to bed and wake up to find the ground
and everything else blanketed in fresh fallen snow for the
first time that year. We have great fun sledding and skating.
One of our most favourite things to do in the wintertime
is to go for a walk in the woods or to go for a walk at
nighttime when it is snowing. The world is so quiet and
still at this time |
Snowmen
and snow sculptures are a great way to spend a day. You
can even add some food colouring to water and paint details
on your creations for some added pizzazz! Don't forget
to add twigs for arms. If you use cranberries, raisins,
and a carrot, the animals get a treat too! |

Feeding
the birds is a wonderful winter time activity that the whole
family can enjoy. Each winter we keep all of our feeders
full to the brim and eagerly await the arrival of our dinner
guests. I can spend hours sitting by the window watching
the comings and goings at our various feeders. Our kitty
cat, Missy, also likes to watch. She spends many of her
days seated at the patio door intently watching each arrival
and departure. Luckily for the birds, she is a strictly
indoor model! LOL |
When
the weather outside is frightful, cuddle up under a quilt,
in front of the fire, pop some popcorn and watch your
favourite video. Brew some tea or make some hot chocolate
(don't forget the whipped cream) and spend the day crafting.
A great way to spend a cold winter day is scrapbooking! |

Each
winter I use my snowman collection to decorate our home.
I get them all out the last week in November and don't put
them away until the end of February. Outside, you will find
two large urns filled with evergreen bowes and winter berries.
Winter is a great time for decorating too! |
Winter
time is soup time. A time to enjoy all those stick to
your ribs meals that are too heavy for warmer weather.
Whip up some homemade soup or chili. Try a new kind of
tea or hot chocolate. Find some fresh fallen snow, scoop
some into a bowl, and pour maple syrup over top. YUM!
