a homely collection of philosophy, recipes, ramblings, and general foolishness
about me: 2006
I am a "farm girl." Raised on a farm, I made it back to a rural homestead after a number of years "in town." After college and marriage, I taught school a couple of years. Then I started raising my kids. For part-time work during those years, I did everything from packing sardines to shingling houses. As a volunteer, I helped organize food co-ops and a community loan fund. I care deeply about peace & justice, recycling, sustainable agriculture, and earth stewardship.
I have three children, all of whom have worked their way through college. My daughter earned a B. A. in Sociology, lives and works in Maine. She is the one who got me started with computers. My older son earned his Masters in Korean Studies (anthropology) and works in Seattle. And my younger son is a Master in Dahn meditation therapy, manages a meditation and health center in California, and married his dear lady in June 2001.
I'm on a big adventure. I'm teaching English in Korea (which used to be spelled Corea before the Japanese occupied it from 1910~1945). My school is in a suburb near Seoul. I've been here since 2001 and love the people, the food and the landscapes. I've a diary at http://sillama1.diaryland.com ( although it is not very up-to-date {groan}). It does give the flavour of what it is like to live here.
I like mellow music (from classic to rock), good books (science-fiction to spiritual), as well as peace and quiet.
