Every day in the United States alone, approximately 70,000 puppies and
kittens are born, compared to 10,000 humans.
An estimated 14 million dogs and cats are killed every year in pounds and
shelters -- just because no one wants them.
Untold numbers are abandoned - animals that don't make it to a pound or
shelter - and left to face their death by means of starvation, disease,
accidents, or other horrible ends.
Unwanted kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs face a cruel death because of
the severe pet overpopulation problem.
It's a myth that all of the animals who are put to death at pounds and
shelters are all old and sick and of mixed origin. Every day young healthy
and even purebred animals are killed needlessly.
You can do your part by spaying/neutering your pet - no matter what its
pedigree. Every animal deserves to be wanted. Until every pet that is born
has a loving home, there is NO excuse to breed any more animals.
It's a myth that females should experience a heat or have a litter for
either health or personality reasons before beng spayed.
You should not allow your pet to have a litter so that your children can
experience the "miracle of birth" unless you are also prepared to show
them the "miracle of death" at your local shelter.
