You may well wonder as to the nature or motivation behind this poem. Simply put it's an acknowledgment of that which we tend to ignore, deny or hide within us all. We all have hidden thoughts, fantasies and questions as to certain aspects of our nature and what it would be like to be someone or something other than what we are to the outside world. In keeping with the medieval theme of my page this most certainly fits the mould. To me the exercise is a true paradox because by nature, I tend to be totally opposite to the central character in the poem and yet anyone who is totally honest within themselves can not deny the allure of power and being in control. Were I born 500 years ago and into such a position, I often wonder how my personality would have developed. Would I be something other than what I am today, I doubt it and yet imagination allows me to step across the boundaries of time and circumstance and become Lord of the Manor, even if only through this poem. Even an all powerful Master can be gentle and compassionate, or so I'd like to think. Who knows, maybe as they say, " total power corrupts totally ", however surely the struggle between the good and the dark side of our natures can be balanced when motivated by a loving heart.

-- The Dungeon --

Castles Dungeon dark as night
Torch lit passages to delight
Descend to the depths if you dare
To meet the Master in his lair

Between sun light and Castles Keep
What pleasures and torments do you seek
The path is slow with winding twists
Beneath the Castles Dungeon mist

Stone is cool on bare skin laid
No promises or commitments made
Lust and passion are your reward
Bestowed upon by the Castles Lord

Muffled laughter, groans and sighs
From deep within, behind fiery eyes
Beating hearts and burning hands
Above the helpless the Master stands.

So if you want to share delights
The thoughts, the feelings and the sights
Terry not, for the Master waits
Behind the Castles Dungeon gate.

BTW, there were no innocents harmed, mistreated or in any way abused in the depths of my mind.:)
