When personal WEB pages first came about (as most of you know) it was for Grandma and Grandpa and the families that lived across the country and across the world to be able to see the kiddies faster than mailing a picture. People got carried away and the number of pictures of babies and kids grew. How *sad* that there are even peverts out there preying on your pages. To love a child is the greatest priviledge and gift in the world, and it's so hard to see that being abused and perverted.
There is nothing wrong with posting your childrens pictures but if you're going to do so; please don't link them from your main page or anywhere else that these perverts can get hold of them. We know how proud you are and you have every right to be! The problem is that there are other people out there who are "sick" and are less than honorable. If you put them up, then let your FAMILY see them, then remove them from your directory as soon as possible.
Pictures are found by unsavory people and altered in many horrible ways. Or, they are used for personal gratification in unspeakable ways.
It's easy to say, "This will never happen to ME" Please !! please think again. It CAN happen to you and it has happened to others.
The most important point I'd like to make is this not everyone believes this problem exists !!!
Not until they see it with their own eyes. BUT, believe me when I say that I have seen where an innocent picture has been taken from a personal homepage and then shared with those who would use them for personal gratification.
Child predators search the net for children's pictures to use on their sites as "examples" of children they either have "loved" or "molested" or they graphically "enhance" them...
It's giving too much information away about yourself, your children, your personal lives.... If you have your state, your name, your address, any personal information that could be put together with children's pictures? Anyone can find them... Do you have the name of their school? The state you live in? The city? How much personal information about you and your family is on your web site? It's for their protection, and to keep their pictures out of the hands of predators....
