This is kind of the sequel to "Love Thine Enemy." "Shooting Star" Another wonderfully crafted fanfic work if I do say so myself. (And I do!) One thing: All of the poetry here is from a song I learned at camp(I changed it a little). I don't know who the artist is or who it belongs to. Just hope I don't get sued) Rebecca had been living with a the Parises for one year now. She even let them call her Becca(still not Becky, she seemed to have a thing about that). Rebecca and K'Elim had been dating for about half a year. Several witness had seen them on the holodeck, making out. Some witnesses were less reliable than others(like nine-year-old Chastity Xaven) and others more(like Harry Kim). K'Elim and Rebecca were a little peeved about it; the whole ship knew that they were in love. One day as they went to school, all of the younger children started singing the ancient song,(with the exception of T'niah and Saren, because they were both half vulcan) "K'Elim and Rebecca sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes K'Elim with a baby carriage..." Rebecca cleared her throat rather noisily, then said loudly to the children, "You know, it's an interesting fact that on the planet Lannit making fun of elders in a *felony*. Under certain circumstances, the child is even *hung*. I'm not saying *we'd* do that, but does make you think, doesn't it?" The kids shut up. "You know," K'Elim whispered, "You don't have to be so mean to them." Rebecca shrugged. "Probably not. But it makes them shut up, doesn't it?" "Yes." "Then what's to worry about? They won't be bugging us for say, a week or so." School went on as usual, and soon it was out. "Wanna go to the holodeck once we're done with homework?" "Sure." They both went to their rooms, to begin their homework. But Rebecca couldn't make heads or tail of the essay she had to read about quantum physics. "Can you help me with this?" she called to K'Elim. "Sure," he said, and he went to her room and explained it. About a half an hour later, they were both done with their homework and the quantum physics were *very* understood. They didn't make it to the holodeck, though... Leiutenant Commander Tom Paris returned to seemingly empty quarters. There was a note from B'Elanna saying that S'Ehrita was gone at a friend's and asking if he could fix dinner tonight. There wasn't anything about K'Elim and Rebecca being gone. *They're probably doing there homework," he thought. He passed Rebecca's room and glanced in to see there was anyone there. There were K'Elim and Rebecca, sitting on the bed, kissing. He cleared his throat loudly. The teens looked up, as if noticing him for the first time. "Uhhm, hi dad," K'Elim whispered. "I was just leaving. Please- don't tell Mom." "I won't this time," said Tom. "But if I catch this again-" "Believe me," Rebecca interupted, "you won't." "Good." * * * (Three weeks later) The planet was called Ardryyl. It was beautiful and unique with a rich culture. The art was much like the surrealism that Rebecca admired. The people were friendly, and treated them like old friends. During the shore leave Voyager took there K'Elim didn't see Rebecca once. She was always busy with something. He was relieved when the shore leave was over, so he could finally see her again. There was a strange look of sadness in her eyes, one he had never noticed before, even after Matteo had died. "K'Elim," she said, though her voice was strained. "K'Elim, I've decided to stay on Ardryyl. Just promise you'll remember me. I'll always remember you." "No, Becca," he said. "You can't go! I'll miss you too much!" "K'Elim," she said, eyes teary, "I have to. Don't you understand? This place is perfect for me, this is my paradise, maybe someday you'll find your own-" "If you have to stay, then I'll stay too." "No, K'Elim. Why do you rush to waste your lifetime here? Do you really want to stay on Ardryyl all your life?" "Yes, if it means I'd be with you." "K'Elim, we're only sixteen, you'll find some one else. Just remember me, that's all I ask." "And what will you do, all these years?" "Work on my art. Live in solitude, try to forgive myself for all the things everyone else has already forgiven me for. Live the life I've always wanted." "But-" K'Elim felt tears spring to his eyes. "What will I do without you?" "Other than have a life again? I don't know, but I have faith that you'll be okay." And she kissed him for the last time. * * * Won't you go and catch A shooting star for me? And take it with you on your way. Though it seems we've just met, You're the one I won't forget, You're in my heart, you're here to stay. And I was thinkin' maybe somewhere later down the road, After all my stories have been told, I'd sit and think of you, The dear friend I once knew, Shot through my life like a shooting star. You are my friend, Oh, you're the light of the shining stars, I'll always look upon this day, You are so near, ah, but soon you'll be so far, Please remember me this way. And I was thinkin' maybe somewhere later down the road, After all my stories have been told, I'd sit and think of you, The dear friend I once knew Shot through my life like a shooting star. Oh, won't you go and catch, A shooting star for me? And take it with you on your way, Though it seems we've just met, You're the one I won't forget, You're in my heart, you're here to stay. You're in my heart, you're here to stay... FINIS Whew! Writing that ending was tough, and that wasn't even Tom and B'Elanna! I don't think I'll ever write a sad story again(haha, knowing me, in a few months it'll be tragedies!)! Yes, I know the rules... PARAMOUNT OWNS VOYAGER. I OWN THE STORY.
