Just about five years ago, my wife, our four adult children, and I took the U.S. Citizenship Examination. It consisted on an oral and a written examination which was given at the Immigration & Naturalization Service in Honolulu. There was no doubt that it was a very simple examination. Why do I say this? Well, it is because we were well prepared for it. We all passed it and on September 17, 1992 (Citizenship Day), we were sworned in as citizens of the United States of America ... just about 5-1/2 years after we immigrated from the Philippines.

There are still many others who will soon be taking this same examination. And just like us before, these immigrants are now probably trying to exert all efforts to prepare for the examinations. It is most probable that these people are asking themselves how to prepare for it. What subjects are to be reviewed? Where to get references or review material? And probably a host of other things are still unclear in their minds.

Don't panic. Relax. It is really no big deal. However, don't take things too lightly though, for there have been many others who also failed in the examination. As long as you know how to read and write, could find the time to review the history of the United States of America and learn about its government structure, you will easily pass the citizenship examination and one day become a citizen of this great country.

There following are the three references recommended by the Immigration and Naturalization Service for those who intend to take the Citizenship Examination:

These references may be ordered through the Superintendent of Documents at P.O. Box 371954, Pittsburgh, PA 15250-7954.There phone number is (202) 512-1800 and the fax number is (202) 512-2250.

Sometime in the second quarter of 1992, I bought all the above references from the office of the Superintendent of Documents. There were also some reviewers made by others which I bought from a local bookstore in Honolulu and from an immigration assistance center. After reading all these references and making a thorough research about questions that could possibly be asked, I came up with my own version of a reviewer for the citizenship examinations.

If you would like to use the same reviewer my family and I plus a number of our close friends also used ... go right ahead and download it. I hope it will be something very useful for you as it has been to us. Good luck.
