Annular Solar Eclipse 31 May 2003

Scotland in the Mist

This eclipse would be observed in our home country. With Scotland's weather reputation, the expectations were not that hight. Though, we did not had that much choice. Iceland's predictions was not that good either.

Joanne, Laura and Derryl Barr flew from East Midlands to Glasgow and from there we did rent a car. We crossed the whole country and had such a wonderful time.

We wanted to observe the eclipse from the very north of Scotland. We picked our location the day before. A beautiful sight with even seals on the rocks. Unfortunately, the morning of the eclipse, it was completely clouded out and we did not see anything of the eclipse. Not even darkness ...

Despite the disappointing eclipse, we had such a wonderful trip in Scotland.  Report by Patrick Poitevin
