Code of Conduct

As part of Rover Explorer Scouts Association commitment 

(To be known as from here on in as - R.E.S.A ) to making this a great place to meet and interact with others around the world, you should agree to abide by the Code of Conduct. Your commitment to this Code in all our services, forums, communities, personal web pages, electronic mail postings and/or other message or communication facilities designed to enable you to communicate with the scouting world and the public at large or with a group (collectively, “Communication Services”), ensures a positive experience for all our users (Scouts & Scouters)

The Communication Services’ Web sites and rings are general purpose sites and are designed for use by individuals that are 16 years of age or older.

However, if you are younger you will need to have a competent adult / parent with you when you surf the net.

Activity on R.E.S.A site is also governed by the 

R.E.S.A Terms of Use.

Respect Others

We encourage everyone to treat each other with mutual respect. Do not use the Communication Services to threaten, harass, stalk, or abuse others participating in any Communication Service. Refrain from all expressions of bigotry, racism, sexism, religious - personal hatred, or profanity.

“A scout is a friend to all and a Brother to every other scout, no matter what class creed or country the other may belong .”

R.E.S.A encourages our users to create their own chats and communities. The creators of these areas act as Hosts. Hosts may eject or ban a user.

  Take Responsibility

1. ·       You are responsible and liable for all your activities while participating on line with R.E.S.A. Remember, you are responsible for anything you say or post.

2. ·       R.E.S.A offers our users the ability to create their own Communication with Scouters, Scouts, Leaders, Rovers and Crews world wide - R.E.S.A takes no responsibility for the ratings, content, nor any activities resulting from the content or otherwise, in these areas. The creators or hosts of these user-created areas are required to agree to and uphold this Code of Conduct before they apply for membership.

3. ·       R.E.S.A are not designed as the primary places to store any materials; you are responsible for creating backups of materials you post to any person such as photos, documents and software. R.E.S.A is not responsible for loss of access to, or deletion or alteration of any materials included in any provision of Service, posted on net or by snail mail to IHQ.

4. ·       R.E.S.A reserves the right to remove at any time, without notice, any user-created Communication Service  (or any particular posting) that violates this ‘Code of Conduct’.

5. ·       Some other Associations and Services may post Internet web site links on our pages. Please be advised that R.E.S.A is not responsible for the content on the web sites associated with the links you may view.

6. ·       Some content and links on the Internet may contain adult content and may not be suitable for children. We encourage parents to join their children as they surf and explore the Internet.

  Uphold the Code 

1. ·       To help us to make the R.E.S.A connection a great scouting site and a great place to meet, you must do your part to uphold this Code of Conduct.

2. ·       R.E.S.A reserves the right to immediately terminate or suspend both membership and access to any of our event’s activities and membership for violations of our ‘Code of Conduct’.

3. ·       R.E.S.A also reserves the right to amend or change the ‘Code of Conduct’ at any time without notice if as required by law - or after consultation with the IHQ London or indeed regional HQ of R.E.S.A. You as a good scout should agree to periodically review this document to ensure you are doing your part to keep us on track as a scouting body.   

1. ·     From their area if a participant violates one of their guidelines or this ‘Code of Conduct’.

2. ·     By participating in a user-created area, you agree to be bound to the rules of that area.

3. ·     Managers and/or Hosts who manage the Communication Services may eject or ban users, as well as remove postings, that violate this ‘Code of Conduct’.                      

      Keep it Legal

1. ·       R.E.S.A does not allow any illegal activities. You cannot use the Communication Services to publish, post, distribute, or disseminate defamatory, infringing, obscene, or other unlawful material or information.

2. ·       Do not upload files or post messages that contain photos, software or other material protected by intellectual property laws, rights of privacy or publicity or any other applicable law unless you own or control the rights thereto or have received all necessary consents. R.E.S.A is not responsible for any use of anything you say or post.

3. ·       Do not post any materials (including software and other information) that could harm (or is designed to harm) other users’ computers or would allow others to inappropriately access software or Web sites.

            A Scout is considerate

1. ·       R.E.S.A does not tolerate disruptive activity online, such as persistent off-topic comments and postings or statements that incite others to violate this Code of Conduct or participate in  illegal activities. Our participants want to communicate and post on the Communication Services in a positive environment.

Protect your Privacy

       We (The Rover Explorer Scouts Association) caution you against giving out personally identifiable information (such as social security numbers, credit card numbers, names and addresses, driver license numbers) to strangers online, which may be used for illegal or harmful purposes.

 Some personal information you provide to R.E.S.A may be stored outside of the country in which you reside.

    This information will not be used to bye time or space in the advertising field nor will it be sold on to respective companies to be used in sales or surveys

‘Code of Conduct’

                     and joining R.E.S.A.                           

1. ‘This does not exclude good old fashion deep and sometimes controversial discussions: these are acceptable, we do not want to ban open and free communications’.

2. ·       Falsely impersonating a R.E.S.A Leader, agent, or commissioner, host, or any other person with the intent to mislead or cause harm to others is forbidden.

3. ·       While you have been provided with a forum to communicate and been given the capacity to self-rate and Communicate through this service, we trust you to use it correctly with the Scout Law and Promise in the fore front of your mind and intentions.  

Don’t Spam

1. ·       Please don’t “spam” other users of this service; none of our scouts or Scouters like it. To Spam includes sending identical and irrelevant submissions to many different discussion groups, mailing lists or communities. Usually such postings have nothing to do with the particular topic of the group or are of no real interest to those on the mailing list. To Spam also includes misrepresenting the source of anything you say or post. Spamming is a serious violation of online etiquette; Please do not do it.

2. ·       R.E.S.A reserves the right to ban a user at any time, without notice, from membership for spamming.

3. ·       R.E.S.A Services may be used to provide supplemental information regarding your own Troop - Crew - Association.

4. ·       (provided you do not use Spam to provide this information).

5. ·       Any use of the Communication Services for commercial purposes is solely at your own risk and R.E.S.A has no liability for such use.
