Hotel L'Ermitage

Here is a photograph of Hotel L'Ermitage, my favourite hotel in the whole wide world.

The Hotel L'Ermitage is situated in Paris, in the district of Montmartre. It is located at 24 Rue Lamark. Rue Lamark is situated in one of the most picturesque parts of Montmarte. This is the road, which runs past the front entrance of the church of Sacre Coeur, turns to run along the eastern side of that church and then snakes off towards a junction with Avenue de Saint Ouen, somewhere between Cimetiere Montmartre and the Metro Station: Guy Moquet. On the way to its junction with Avenue de Saint Ouen, Rue Lamark passes the metro station: Lamarck Caulaincourt. It is also very close to the metro stations: Anvers and Abbesses, so you can see that you will be very well placed for transport when staying at Hotel L'Ermitage.

As you are doubtless aware, Sacre Coeur is the church on the hill, in Montmarte, which you can see from all over Paris. More importantly, from the front steps of Sacre Coeur you can see views across the whole of Paris. Since Hotel L'Ermitage is no more than 200 metres from the best of these viewpoints, you can see the whole of Paris spread out before you as you go off exploring every morning of you holiday at Hotel L'Ermitage. This is particularly the case if you use the Anvers Metro Station for all of your trips to the city centre.

A Brief Overview

The hotel L'Ermitage is a small family run affair. The room prices are very reasonable. The owner is friendly and the manager is friendly, efficient and helpful. Breakfasts are simple and are served in your room. One telephones when one is ready for breakfast and the manager will bring it to your room. The speed with which she is able to do this is quite remarkable.

The hotel is very well situated. It is less than 200 metres from the front steps of the Church of Sacre Coeur. Consequently, it is less than 200 metres from some of the best views of Paris, you could ever hope to see.

The hotel is less than 400 metres from the artists quarter, a photograph of which is shown below:

Transport

As stated above, there are four Metro Stations within easy walking distance of hotel L'Ermitage. However, the best metro station to use, in the author's opinion, is Anvers. This metro station lies near the bottom of the steps leading up to the south side of the Church of Sacre Coeur on the Boulevard Clichy. It is on line 2, the Blue line, which runs towards the Bois De Boulogne, via Arch De Triomphe to the West. Two stops to the East it meets with line 4, the purple line, which will take you to Gare De Nord and the Left Bank. In other words, from Anvers you can be in the Centre of Paris, i.e. by the edge of the River Seine, within the space of about 20 minutes after leaving Anvers.
