Post Mortem Consent Form

Alder Hey has revised the form they are using to obtain consent from parents for post mortem. Several parents attended meetings at the hospital to help with this. Those who went to the meetings will have had copies sent out to them for comments. Copies have also been sent to co-ordinators. If you want to see the revised form please speak to your co-ordinator, or contact the office, and a copy will be sent to you.

The hospital are not retaining any organs at the moment, but when they start again there is a very clear section on the form for this, and if it is not signed by the parent the hospital cannot retain anything.

We hope that in the future there will be some external monitoring of this, along with sanctions that can be taken with any doctor who oversteps the mark.

PITY II (Parents who have Interred Their Young Twice) is the parents' support group set up in the wake of the organ retention scandal
