The Independent Inquiry The Inquiry Team has started meeting regularly. They have offices in Liverpool where they will be taking evidence. Their report will be made public, although all evidence will be confidential. Although the management arrangements for the Inquiry are still under discussion, it appears that the only people who will be present when anyone gives evidence will be the Inquiry Team, their barrister, and the person giving evidence and their legal adviser if they wish. This is to encourage people to be open and honest, and enable "whistle blowing" if necessary. All parents on the Alder Hey database will be sent a questionnaire by the Inquiry Team to ensure that everyone has the chance to put their views to the team in writing. Some parents will be invited by the Inquiry Team to give evidence directly. Although everyone will naturally want to have their chance to speak to the team, it is acknowledged that in view of the number of families concerned, this is impossible if the Inquiry is to report in a reasonable timescale. Just because you don't give evidence in person, doesn't mean that issues important to you won't be taken into account - you should write them on the questionnaire when you get it.
