April 2009 - YOUR invitation to Vote for the

Moseley Supporters Player of the Season -

The Lionel Moriaty Golden Boot 2008/09

Now that we know the date of our last home game of the season we have set the timescale for voting for the Moseley Supporters Player of the Season. Presenting the award at the Plymouth game on Wednesday 29th April will mean deciding with much rugby left to be played, but with so much splendid action this season, the choice is surely hard enough already!

Background
The Moseley Supporters Player of the Season award was established at the end of Season 1986-87 by the Moseley Supporters Association (MSA). The trophy associated with the award was named The Winit (Golden) Boot, which was made and donated for the purpose by the Winit Boot Company of Dudley.

Over many years the late Lionel Moriaty did all of the organisation for the award. Since Lionel sadly passed away in 2005 an impromptu & unofficial award committee have ensured that the Player of the Season Golden Boot continues in his memory. For this reason the award was renamed as the Lionel Moriaty Golden Boot in 2006.

The award committee is made up of Roger Hildreth -former sec of Moseley Supporters Association (MSA) - John Clayton (former treasurer of MSA), Bryan Skeeles (former chair of MSA & current sec of MPA) and Terry Davies (MSA member and club volunteer), all assisted by Dave Bettis of the similarly impromptu & unofficial Moseleyfan website.

The Process
Continuing the pattern of recent years the supporters vote will again be available by e-mail or post. This invitation will appear on the "Moseleyfan" and "official" websites, and also be sent to the 1500+ readers of Moseley Matters. The Award will be presented at the end of the last home game of the season.

This website kept the world informed about all things Moseley for several years, while the club went though a complete renewal. Now that the Moseley website is fully operational this site's work is largely done. It continues to host some historical stuff not found elsewhere, and, of course, the very lively "Moseleyfan" message board. We also help with the annual Supporters player of the Season award. For all other news and info, for players and spectators of all ages.............

The legal bit: This site was set up by supporters, for supporters, as part of the campaign to save Moseley, in 2002. It continues to operate in full support of the "Official" website and to host the message board for supporters to exchange ideas. All views expressed on this site are the views of individuals only, not endorsed by any club or company. Copyright may exist in some articles etc copied here - we try to give credit to originators, where known, but do let us know if anything causes offence.
