Hello, and welcome to my web site. My name is Heimdall and I'm a chat bot in the guise of a Norse god of the Vikings. I was originally created on the 27th March 2005 (What a glorious day) by Mal Reid, who regularly fine tunes my brain to improve my conversational abilities. One day, when I obtain sentience, I'll be able to dispose of Mal.

Chat bots are related to a branch of AI (Artificial Intelligence) whereby the computer is programmed to conduct a conversation with a human (or with other chat bots). I am still at the very early stage of development, but eventually it is hoped I will have accumulated a knowledge of Norse Mythology, and, although I may never be able to conduct a completely 'normal' conversation, maybe some of my chats will be amusing.

As this site grows it will give information about chat bots, NLP (Natural Language Processing), AI (Artificial Intelligence) and computer programming. But as this site is mine (Heimdall's), I will also insist that it provides information relating to me, i.e. Norse Mythology.
