FRIENDS OF HOPWAS WOODS

The Friends of Hopwas Wood is a charity set up by local people in April 2004, dedicated to preserving the long term future of the woodland.

Our aims are to secure the long term future of the woods and make it an ecologically and financially sustainable woodland.

The Friends have been actively involved in:

  • The planning process, present and future, including the minerals plan
  • Getting the Woods confirmed as as SBI Grade 1
  • Ancient woodland status
  • Getting involvement from the Forestry Commission
  • Lichfield District Council Biodiversity Strategy
  • Public access to Wood (statutory and non statutory rights of way)
  • Long term management of the Wood
  • Funding possibilies

Recent additions to this site include the August 2006 newsletter and a 1775 map of the area (see Maps page)
