AIRSPIEL-Broken Record Day FREE DOWNLOAD
Sign of the times in that this is the first track we've reviewed that's only available if you download it from the internet, but it's generally available, so it counts.
From Glasgow's Airspiel, this is nothing short of fantastic. A brand new track, it opens with gloriously chiming guitars that sound like the guitars in the LA's “There She Goes” as, very quickly, the band fire up and in crashes the scorching rhythm guitar riff, crunchy drums and thudding bass, before the vocal comes in and it all drops back to shimmering guitar leads and lurching rhythms as this wondrously languid male vocal, multi-tracked for excellence, just flows like honey through a verse that immediately captures your heart, only then for the vocal to be a thousand voices as this spine-tingling sea of harmonies rises to the chorus as the band take off with it and the song becomes this incredibly uplifting affair that's just phenomenal. It all then drops back to the next verse, sails through, rises for another chorus and so on, absolutely faultless, as the sheer passion and emotion of the performance soars out of the speakers to breathtaking degree. This is a song that makes you feel good, makes you want to take on all that the world can throw at you and never becomes anything less than awe-inspiring. The combination of the high-flying lead guitar and the deep surge of the rhythm guitars allied to the dark and thunderous bass, splashing cymbal work and driving drums, with the gorgeous sounding lead vocals and those awesome harmonies, makes this a song of which many a more famous band would hold its head up with pride if it had got this far. Simply stunning!!
