Even in todays times with the internet, etc, it is still not easy for musicians to have their music put directly in front of an audience who would be only too willing to buy it, if only they knew what it sounded like. So, it has been decided to re-launch "Inkeys", this time as a CD-R, and still to be sold at an ultra low price (just to cover production costs). Initially, Inkeys will be an electronic music project, although we hope to produce issues to cover Progressive Rock and Psychedelic Music soon.
The whole point of Inkeys is to promote the music of musicians whose music would not otherwise be heard other than by those people who can be bothered to surf their lives in search of a good tune. The idea is that the music featured on Inkeys should reflect the music of the album from which it comes, assuming there is one. So, those of you out there who've recorded an album in haf a dozen diffferent styles can sadly wave goodbye to inclusion on here. The aim is to help the musicians to sell albums - pure and simple Costs are kept to a minimum where possible so that the retail proice can be set at such a level that it will attract a wider audience to hear what each issue has to offer.
We never played any piece of music without permission from the artist or band
or label. This will continue to be the case. Every track featured on "Inkeys" is "spoilt" - myself and Kath G are the announcers/DJ's, and each track has a voiceover at
the end or beginning. This ensures that no complete track can be used for
downloading or copying as a result of appearing on an issue of "Inkeys". Any
musician can feel "safe" knowing that this is not something that can harm
sales, only enhance them.
We will also be seeking to feature a track or more per issue that is
exclusive to that issue of "Inkeys" - again with our voiceover - while Nessie will contribute her own section. Retailers charts and possibly the odd interview segment will also be featured from time to time.
Obviously, we will not be sending out promo copies to magazines or advertising the thing, as that simply increases the costs and the resultant retail price, so any promotional help anyone can provide, would be appreciated.
If you would like your music featured on Inkeys, drop me a line first - don't bother sending a demo or CD, as it only wastes your money. If I need one, I'll ask you for one! Nessie will contact those people who she wants to feature in her section, separately.
THANKS FOR LISTENING!!!!!
