FTP is a technology which allows you to transfer web pages between your PC and the website you are working on. It is possible to build a website on the hard drive of your PC and then upload the website files in one single FTP session. If you are new to web design you will need to understand the use of HTML first and foremost. You should not worry too much about using FTP until you are confident with using HTML.
