In the other semi there was much excitement when Sally Shayler, also of Bedfordshire Golf Club, squeezed out the up-and-coming young star Lizzie Sweetnam of Leighton Buzzard Golf Club to guarantee the trophy's return to the Bedfordshire club at Stagsden. Sally, playing off two, had to be at her best to get through against the excellent youngster.
On Saturday afternoon a substantial crowd followed the final between the two Stagsden ladies. A scintillating match with brilliant golf from both players resulted in Holly narrowly beating her club mate Sally to retain her 2007 County Trophy for another year.
