Important Waypoints
Every Ericson owner should stop at these ports as they cruise the Internet:
- Pacific Seacraft in Fullerton, CA, has established a good discussion board for their boats, including Ericsons. Their phone number is 714/879-1610. Robin, at that number, has been described elsewhere on the Web as "a helpful Brit"
- Subscribe to the Ericson email discussion list at sailnet.com, a comprehensive site run by Sam & Cheryl Boyle. This is an extraordinarily useful tool, bringing owners of Ericsons in all shapes and sizes together. There's also a list of several E32 owners willing to talk about their experiences with their boats; some have even posted reviews
- Ericsonyachts.com is a site designed for owners of all Ericson makes and models
- The Chesapeake Ericson Owners Association has a well-established site
- Another must-click is the snazzy Ericson 27 Fleet One page from the San Francisco Bay area
- See the list of Ericson 32s for sale at yachtworld.com
- There's a compilation of specs for most Ericson boats, and a photo of an old Ericson manufacturing plant from some promo material on Cary Diehl's site, as well as another Ericson discussion list
- Jeff Lennox is the Connecticut-based publisher of the Northeast Ericson News, a snailmail newsletter. Email him for subscription information. He helps organize the annual Northeast Ericson regatta, which usually occurs in August, on or near Long Island Sound
- Ericson 35 owner Mike Hatcher has discussed online some of the work he has done on his boat, including replacing the rudder, which is identical to that on the 32
- Don Moyer has built a first-class business rebuilding and supplying parts for the Atomic 4 engine around the country. His rebuild manual, available through the website, is an invaluable tool for understanding how the "Atomic Bomb" can work through the 21st century
- The Atomic 4 homepage is chockablock with useful information about parts, maintenance, and projects for the venerable Atomic Bomb; it's part of a site dedicated to the Alberg 30.
- The Atomic 4 discussion list is located at sailnet.com, and it is as useful as the Ericson list at the same site
- "Captain Ron" has collected operating and maintenance notes, and has scanned in several notable items from the Atomic 4 library, including a manual, on his webpage
- Don't miss Indigo, the source for Atomic 4 upgrades like freshwater cooling, electronic ignition, and an oil filter
- Nowhere else on the web have I seen mention of my friend and personal Atomic weapon: Barstow, CA-based Atomic 4 rebuilder/mechanic Buck Anderson. He's the guy on the right. Someday, I'll assemble more details on this colorful character, who might best be described as "Renaissance-Man-meets-Dukes-of-Hazzard." (That's not me on the left, it's Jacques.)
