The Ericson 32 Fleet...in Photographs

"LaGun"
Anders and Gunilla Borgstrom
Hull # unknown, 1972

"We are new proud owners of LaGun, an Ericson-32 built 1972, I think.
The boats home port is Skanör, the most southwestern part of Sweden."

"Blue Burgundy"
Tom & Debbie Tilbury
Hull #604, 1985

"I purchased and commissioned my 1985 Ericson 32, hull #604, in August 1984. This was the 4th hull built of the new 1985 model year version of the 32, and was the first hull delivered to northern California. I raced and sailed 'Blue Burgundy' out of Mariners Square Marina, Alameda, CA, from 1984 through September 1988. I moved to Southern California in May 1988, and sailed Blue Burgundy down to her new port at Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard, CA in September. I raced and sailed the Channel Islands as part of Anacapa Yacht Club from September 1988 until November 1997. Blue Burgundy is now berthed and sails out of Marina Del Rey. This picture was taken on the day we ran the first sea trials on San Francisco Bay, in August 1984.

"Blue Burgundy has been an outstanding yacht and a great pleasure to sail and enjoy, from the first time I laid eyes on the hull in the shipping cradle in Alameda in 1984 - through fourteen years and countless hours and miles, under all conditions." (11/19/98)

"Gravity Storm"
Justin & Sandy Lee
Hull #635, 1985

"This picture is of the boat on her trailer...YES TRAILER in the yard. I am undergoing a major refit on this boat & the image here was taken right after I finished barrier coating the hull. Hopefully soon I will have her back in the water & can get you a shot of her sailing." (04/14/00)

"New Wave"
Geoff Johnson
Hull #638, 1985

"Here is a picture of 'New Wave' in the Roaring Forties (north, not south) on the way to Port Jefferson, NY on Long Island Sound. As you can see, we have dodged yet another dreaded lobster pot. The Ericson 32 is a good light air boat, which important in this part of the world in July and August." (01/23/99)

"Blue Max"
Don Howlett
Hull #819, 1988

Mystery Boat
Sail number perhaps 713?

Photo by Don Howlett, September 1999

"This is a photo I took on Galveston bay of another unidentified Ericson 32...I have not yet gotten one of my boat under sail." (09/06/99)

"Morning Star"
Kim Efishoff, Meticulous Recordkeeper
Hull #915, 1990

"Greel"
John McCauley
Scorpion 32 hull #4, 1965

"It is my understanding from Ericson (8 years ago) that 28 boats were built and that there were no records remaining. It was called the 'Scorpion 32' and is configured very closely to the Columbia Sabre 5.5. I think the Ericson is much prettier ... I have seen two other of these boats, both in Marina del Rey. Neither are there now. I had heard that one had moved to Morro Bay CA." (12/21/98)

"Beowulf"
Steve Lohbeck
Scorpion 32 Hull #12

"Last year I purchased the sleekest boat I have ever seen. It took over a year of looking at it, admiring the lines and waiting for the price to come down to where I could afford it. I had recently moved back to my home in the Arizona desert, from twelve years of sailing and messing about in boats in Florida and the Bahamas and I was very surprised at finding a deep keeled boat like this in an area that is not really known for sailboats. The boat is named "Beowulf" was built in 1965, hull # 12, and is still sitting where I originally found it, Tempe, Arizona. I knew I was premature in buying it when I did, but the price was right and I'm sure it will be a very good Bahama boat for me when I do get back there. I'm afraid I haven't sailed Beowulf yet, and am dying to do so, but other important affairs have prevented me from getting back to the islands as soon as I had hoped. My goal now is to trailer the boat to Key West for the next Fantasy Fest (Halloween) and from there hit the Bahamas again. I truely do miss those turquoise waters. This particular boat has been fitted with a small, ( 7 hp, I think) farrymann diesel . I believe it once had a well for an outboard. The boat has been in Arizona for quite a few years but I dont know the complete history of just where it has been." (05/20/99)
